Just wanted to see if anyone had some more information on the recent BFTP release of:

Girl O' My Dreams

Can't Stop This Feeling I Got

We Can Funk

Databank

I read that the tracks were recorded in sequence, and I remember the tremendous Box O Chocolates bootleg that had them in pristine quality. This was the first time i'd heard them in the sequence i'd read about

Wondered if anyone knows if the BFTP ones are the same sessions in different fidelity/mixes, of if its entirely different takes for the tracks. Heard on the bus this morning (taking a while to get through both volumes!) and they sounded different, at least to these ears

Actually, I have a version of the 86 We Can Funk and Databank that is far superior to what is on BOC and BFTP.

PrinceVault says for Data Bank (one of my faves) there was an 86 version, and then another with overdubs... so assuming this is the BFTP and BOC versions, and the subtle differences are some different takes/mixes. also indicates there is an 89' version too which I assume is the rerecording for The Time album.

Sorry if im being a clutz - i love finding out all this kinda stuff. Its like a rabbit hole where you think you have it sussed then all of a sudden something else leaks/gets released and you find yourself wanting to know even more.

Don't know exactly if joyinrepetiton and me are talkin' of the same, but regarding We Can Funk '86 the version included in "H20" is really better sounding that any version leaked or released after.

Unfortunately it starts abruptly in the middle of the segue between it and CSTFIG, but this apart it is a near pristine sound quality.

Yeah Man! I actually got it from a two different sources, one being H2O.
