Roman Abramovich I don't know if this has been talked about. I am not on this site often enough to keep up. Just that busy. but I ask this as sincerely as I can. Does anyone know why other than "anything for money" Prince and other celebrities perform for evil rich russian olegarks? I am just looking for a sensible anwer to understand why a man I respected all my life would sell his soul (When he is JW) to someone like that? I don't get it. It's apparently past my relm of understanding. His last new years eve gig in St Barts for this guy Roman Abramovich. And then he is gone in April right before it all happens. "Communism is just a word. But if the Government turn over, it'll be the only word that's heard!" Why did the gates of hell open up after his death? At least for this country anyway? It's just weird how it all started. The timing. Something in the water does not compute. I dunno, life's a bitch! Anyway..... its past my head. I guess money is money. Especially when its your last bow. The night is over. masquerade is getting older. last curtain call. It didn't matter yesterday. So why did it matter on his last new years eve? I don't know. I just have not figured this one out yet. I am not putting judge on Prince. I am just trying to understand. I get the need for money. But when it puts you in danger.....russians and Bannon/Sessions (KKK) vs Black Lives Matter (Baltimore) conflict. Just trying way too much to figure it all out. He performed for these rich billionaires back in the 90's with the NPG and I just never really thought about who he was doing private gigs for. Why do you think there'd be any other reason bar a massive paycheque? Prince played a fair amount of these gigs. [Edited 5/19/17 16:44pm]

I get where you're coming from. I was surprised to hear about NYE too.
Prince was so opposed to the corruption inherent in the system of middle men in corporations... everybody getting their piece of the pie and hiding it legalese... maybe he preferred dealing with only the guy at the top? " />
He played there in 2009 also. Sacred is the prayer that asks 4 nothing,

He played there in 2009 also. Because people are wealthy it does not mean they are inherently evil. It also takes money to run a record lable and recording studio.

. --I am not so much concerned about him but the idea that everybody that is super rich has horns growing out of their head. My guess is this guy was a fan and Prince probaly knew little about his private life or activities. I do remember someone who worked for him it might have been Van Jones who said that Prince had turned down 10 million to do a gig in Israel so he had a limit.

. Prince played many private concerts for the uber-wealthy and so do other top stars. . I'd be happy to take that money. So was he. $5 million or more for one concert? He was a businessman. He wasn't endorsing him. . If you're going to think like that, maybe you should investigate everyone who bought tickets to his concerts. . Don't forget that P was part of the .01% himself. Prince worked harder than almost anyone else to achieve his own great wealth. He ended up as wealthy as Mitt Romney, who started with a big trust fund. . . If any of you think billionaires anywhere are good folk all I need to do is to quote a line from Under The Cherry Moon.... "He's kicked a billion asses to get it."

Gas Russia Used in Hostage Siege Was Fentanyl, U.S. Officials SayPublished October 30, 2002
WASHINGTON – The gas Russian authorities used at the end of a Moscow hostage crisis, which killed 116 of the captives, was the anesthesia fentanyl or another drug related to it, U.S. officials said Tuesday. In Moscow, U.S. Ambassador Alexander Vershbow offered the first official American criticism of the Russians' continued refusal to identify the substance used. "It's clear that perhaps with a little more information, at least a few more of the hostages may have survived," Vershbow said. Russian authorities pumped the gas into a theater where separatist rebels were holding more than 800 people hostage Saturday. The gas killed 116 hostages; 50 hostage-takers also died, many from gunshot wounds. Relatives of Oklahoman Sandy Booker, 49, said Russian authorities notified them Tuesday that Booker was among the dead. Based on reports from doctors who visited some of the American hostages, U.S. officials believe the gas was an opiate — a drug related to morphine and heroin, Vershbow said. Other U.S. officials identified the drug as fentanyl, commonly used in anesthesia and to relieve severe pain. Fentanyl is a fast-acting narcotic that in large doses can shut down breathing and cause death from lack of oxygen. A hundred times more potent than morphine, fentanyl also has been abused for the highs it produces. The effects of opiates like fentanyl can be reversed with the drug naloxone, known by the brand name Narcan. U.S. officials say some of the hostages responded to doses of Narcan, which bolstered the belief that the Russians used an opiate to knock out the hostage-takers and their captives. Fentanyl was among drugs that Pennsylvania State University researchers suggested two years ago the U.S. military explore as weapons to subdue angry mobs. The Pentagon has put such research on hold, however, because of worries that it would violate the international ban on chemical weapons. Whether Russia's use of the gas in the hostage situation would violate the treaty is unclear, since the pact allows for the use of chemical agents for law enforcement purposes. At the White House, spokesman Ari Fleischer avoided criticizing the Russian government's response to the hostage crisis. "The president feels very strongly that responsibility for this rests with the terrorists who took these people hostage and put them in harm's way in the first place," Fleischer said.

If this man is truly not a good man, then I am somewhat surprised that upset that P played for him. He must've really needed the $. He must not have been in his right mind. The only other explanation I can come up with is that he wanted to bring something good and true and fun to those poor people. See, cuz they are actually the poorest people in the world. That's the reason I choose to believe.

. ...or wrong for him to play for Verizon at the Hollywood Roosevelt in 2007? Good article here: https://mobile.nytimes.co...price.html . Face it, most of the uber wealthy (and I put P among them) are smarter, better educated, have inborn talent and influences, or just work harder than the rest of us. I'm not jealous and I don't think most are bad. Warren Buffett and Bill Gates have given away most of their fortunes. . I almost wonder if Abromavich paid P by giving him that house in Turks and Caicos, which he came into shortly after that 2009'concert. That home could be a tricky way of keeping income out of the country and away from the tax man. We know they are looking for his financials across the world. . well ... let's assume the worst case and roman abramovich really is a bad guy (which, I guess, no one of us knows and isn't our place to judge) ... then in that worst case scenario prince took 5 million of his dirty $ for playing a gig he would have been playing anyway (cuz he always did somewhere on new years eve but chances are he wouldn't have earned that much) and eventually gave it to one of his charities (cuz that's what he actually did with all that extra cash he got as we know) ... not the worst thing in the world, isn't it? the only love there is is the love we make
