I'm glad Universal was able to get out of it. I can't stand crooked lawyers.

Anybody can clarify? It seems WB has rights relating to distribution of "Records", which may arguably include more than pressing an album, magnetizing a tape, or burning a CD. Universal was looking to distribute, digitally, music already spoken for in the WB agreement.
Am I off in this? [Edited 7/13/17 18:48pm] -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Still it's nice to know, when our bodies wear out, we can get another -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Maybe, this is just an unprecedented situation. Are there any precedents for the way Prince ran business and the way he horded away music?
I am more sad right now that there is so little faith in his post 95 released and limited release recordings than the vault recordings (which are probably a mixed bag but which are so hyped that eventually for better or for worse probably will come out.) . I know his later released work is definitely a mixed bag also, but a mixed bag still has gems in it. And all this hard work Prince put forth shouldn't be just ignored. I imagine a lot of people with little knowledge of Prince might just think he was wasting away in PP in pain and opoid-induced stupor for that last 10 years (since the much hyped super bowl) releasing no music and doing no concerts.

I think they were lied to, by a certain lawyer, who is now being questioned for unethical practices.

Because WB would not permit UMG to review P's 2014 WB agreement due to the confidentiality clause. Londell assured UMG that they would be permitted to do certain things under their contract with the Estate. Based on his assurances UMG went forward. WB stepped in after the contract was in place and threatened to file a lawsuit against the Estate and UMG. Then UMG threatened to file a lawsuit against the Estate for fraudulent misrepresentation. It was a clusterfuck. <-- old legal term.

There is a hoard of live shows on YouTube from the last ten years so he was not in a pain pill stupor. I do not understand why the estate which owns all post 1995 material does not out it out even if it is via a streaming no license just go out to people with funds going directly to the estate.

Not copyrights so much but the fact the deal the Prince signed with WB was widely hyped in the media as a licensing deal. Why would UMG think it would not have been for a longer period of time than 2018? I suspect that someone at UMG was in on this fiasco with LM.

If you are a gung-ho fan and know where to look, many live performances can be found on youtube (even though they are taken down quite often). But if you just type in prince and last 24 hours, you don't necessarily get Prince Rogers nelson's videos, concert footage, etc. If you just type in Prince (and no other descriptions), then you get the most overplayed prince music or not PRN at all. (Another disadvantage of being a Prince fan, is that his name is also a title afforded to people like Prince William, CHarles and Harry and because there are people like Prince Royce out there.
PRN's official page now has a few more videos on it today (IWTBYL, Dirty Mind, Uptown, WDYWTMSB??) but I guarantee that the videos will only be WB era videos and clips once they start coming in more and more.
The ideal situation would be an official prince page on youtube with hundreds of videos, pro-shot concert footage (that stays up and isn't originally shot from someone's cell phone) and tv performances. None of this is happening.
I have obviously found quite a bit, but some clips (like him doing black muse live on the P and M tour or his live version of "The Whole of the Moon") are gone and were up for a limited amount of time.

Let me get this straight...WB would not allow viewing due to confidentiality clause, yet turns around and threathens suit. I've said from the beginning this was a classic bait and swtitch on WB's part to not only demean the Estate, but also to make sure that the estate wound up looking like fools, therefore no other "legitimate" company would fool with/want to complete a contract/transaction with the estate.

. I agree. It appears that they set all this up, knowing it was done haphazardly and would fail.

No company is going to show a competitor a contract. I do not put the blame on WB for anything. The blame is on Londell who was trying to get a fresh deal to put money in his pocket. The deal with WB already exsisted and I will bet he never even tried to work with them to admend the WB agreement. He wanted to get paid and he is so greedy and delusional that he believed he could due it by just leaving out the details and then try and force UMG to go throught with it.
Now watch him say he completed his contract with the estate by getting the deal and walk with a comminsion for slip shod work. The only good thing is only SNJ will be crazy enought to keep working with him which is probaly what he wanted all along. To get his hooks into this estate and stay put for the rest of his days.
