What tracks would you use to make a Diamonds and Pearls deluxe edition?

I've been getting back to this album recently and it jams. I have a better love for Daddy Pop. My favorite tracks are Cream and Money Don't Matter. What tracks would you use to make a homemade deluxe edition? I would put Horny Pony as a bonus and the longer version of Thunder as well. Could anyone else give me more ideas on what to use?

I think they'll probably skip that album. Unless it's part of a box set or something

Cool idea! I'd include the tracks you guys mentioned plus the video version of Willing and Able for sure. You could also pick out your favorites from the remix EPs from that album too.

It is my second favourite Prince album. I usually skip Push and Jughead. Other than those 2 songs, I listen to it from start to finish.
.
Disc 1: Diamonds and Pearls remaster
.
Disc 2: Horny Pony is a no-brainer. I would add any other B sides from the D&P singles. My understanding is that there is a Prince-only version of the song Diamonds and Pearls, and I would love for that to be on a deluxe version. I would add any extended versions that are in the vault for any songs besides Jughead and Push.
.
Disc 3: The deluxe version should definitely include all of the music videos for the songs on this album. The music videos for this album, namely D & P, Insatiable, Cream, and MDM2N are among his very best music videos. Also on this disc I would put the 1991 MTV VMAs performance of Gett Off. Obviously, the inclusion of this performance would require some sort of deal among the Estate, Warner Brothers, and MTV.
.
Disc 4: I would like to see the full recording of the Wembley Arena concert in London from the D & P Tour in the highest quality available. The choreography from the D&P Tour is incredible! He had some great guitar solos as well during that concert.
.
As for the song credits, I would like to see Diamonds and Pearls listed as a duet between Prince and Rosie Gaines because it is a duet. At the very least, that track should say Prince feat. Rosie Gaines. (Diamonds and Pearls and The Beautiful Ones are my 2 favourite Prince songs of all time.) I would love for the booklet to contain commentary from members of the NPG who were Involved in creating D & P, as well as any commentary from Prince regarding the album via interviews or other reputable sources.

Such a set should most definitely include a DVD with both the Diamonds And Pearls Video Collection (already released as a DVD) AND the Gett Off Video Maxi-Single (only released on VHS & LD).

One change that I would like to see with the D&P Video Collection is the credits. Seriously, why are the credits rolling at the end of that awesome Live 4 Love guitar solo?! guitar I would like to see the credits start rolling after the guitar solo ends. Put the credits over some highlights from the video collection instead of over the L4L guitar solo.

— track 14 is a 0'47'' prank phone call by Prince to a woman, which starts with "Hello, have you heard the single 'Cream'?". I have no idea where it comes from, maybe some 7th Dan Jedi can enlighten us.

Liners :

Okay, you asked for it, and here it is, the last Homemade Deluxe Edition of Prince's main albums. Diamonds and Pearls was kind of a return to form, scoring hit singles, videos and assless pants, while also earning him a big contract to resign with Warner Bros. Records. The less we talk about that though, the better.
The real story here is that this is clearly not a solo album, primarily because of songs like Strollin', Walk Don't Walk and Willing and Able. None of those songs would likely sound right on a traditional Prince album, showing a different kind of soul or blues influenced vibe than he ever showed before or after.
There is also the annoying presence of Tony M. and the Game Boyz as they try to become professional rappers of some sort, all despite being nothing more than average. As someone that loves hip-hop, the music here is wonderful but Tony's raps feel like an embarressment. On the other hand, everything Rosie touches turns to gold, and that includes her own raps and obvious contributions to the songwriting, whether those contributions receive full credits or not. There is also some vague political commentary in tracks like Money Don't Matter 2 Night, the fighter-pilot fantasy, Live 4 Love, and the rolling mistake that is Jughead, a "rap" track that got Prince sued by his former manager, Steve Fargnoli, for apparently breaking a non-disclosure agreement. What would a Prince album be without solo tracks like the operatic Thunder or the invitation to freak that is Insatiable. It's a pretty damn great album, albeit a strange one.

For this version, we're presenting you with three discs worth of ephemera.

The first disc is a vinyl rip of the main album, contributed by the wonderful DJ Polished Solid! Apart from some declicking, I also normalized the volume on each side of the album before seperating the tracks into their individual pieces. Otherwise, no further processing or tweaking was performed.

The second disc consists outtakes, b-sides and obscurities.
The outtakes and early versions were contributed by Link343 who did all the work on making them sound as wonderful as they do.
The Thunder Ballet was taken from the 30 Years Of Funk collection,
Gett Off from T's 12" Archive,
Call The Law from The NPG's Gold Nigga and
Horny Pony from the Gett Off single.

Regarding the third disc, all officially released tracks were taken from their respective releases,
Willing and Able and the remix of Gangster Glam are from 30 Years Of Funk and
the Thrust Mix of Gett Off is from T's 12" Archive.
The only work done to those tracks was some normalization. I don't use compression and I never max out the volume, always leaving it at least a quarter of a decibel below the max, so there is no clipping and everything sounds nice and clear.

Now that we've got these out of the way, at some point in the near future I will be reposting all of the Prince albums that I've posted Homemade Deluxe Editions of so far and I'll also start work on some of the side-project releases. A very good friend said they might have a copy of The Family album for me to rip in the near future!

Peace, Love and Thanks to everyone who has downloaded, enjoyed, contributed to and in general had anything to do with these releases. You know who you are! Again, thank you!

Yes, it's at the end of the Cream maxi single (after Ethereal Mix) and is a call to a band members sister

The guitar breaks on Call The Law... D&P was a great return to form.
It's no Parade for sure, but it's a full american record, in the good sense.
Over the top, societal, religious, stoopid and crooner, heavy-metal and arabic, which is no small feat with the Gulf War so close. Of course Live 4 Love is a masterpiece, but it has to be on 11 to consider it so. Michael B. and Sonny show off the fantastic years to come with the NPG.

It has aged in parts, but not that much.

And one day, "Dead On It" and "Jughead" will have their reputation cleansed: just because a specific side of Prince doesn't speak to you, doesn't mean it's not a great work. Or a funny one.

Yeah this is most probably what it would look like if WB did in my opinion, although they'd probably add the Diamonds & Pearls video collection as Disc 4 along with a live performance from the era on disc 5

Now don't you give'em no ideas.

Thinking about it, The Gold Experience is the most perfect brickwalling of all times.
You have to listen to it on "neutral". TGE sounds like it's blasting from a giant boombox.
The Love Symbol as well, it's just compressors and EQ, it's nuts.
Reverbs and delays are only there to adorn.

A real Deluxe package would include the side projects. We need Goldnigga and Carmen Electra.

I was wondering the same thing about the appearance of the Tora Tora alter ego. It may very well be the first appearance because many of the photos of P as Tora Tora are from 92 to 95, but VTOG is from 91.
