Welcome to the concept of employment. They are professional musicians, they perform, they should be paid. The various members of The Revolution are not (as far as I'm aware) living in big white mansions at the top of the road, counting their fortunes by the million. They are jobbing musicians with mortgages and bills to pay, even Wendy & Lisa. They are offering a product and people vote with their feet to determine if they think the product is worth the money. I hear the shows have sold very well and have been well reviewed.
As it is, they are probably just about breaking even and have a bit of pocket change left over. Have you any idea of the running costs of what they're doing?
I imagine you get paid for whatever job you do.

Attendance for the reunion shows in the big cities is pretty good, but I went to one at a venue on the NY/CT border and it was half empty. So barely breaking even sounds about right. |

Bobby Z., formerly of the Revolution, is having an all star line up for his MyPurpleHeart.Org charity organization tomorrow night at 1st Avenue in Minneapolis. Questlove will also be doing a special DJ set there Friday night.
His former boss, as Bobby calls him, PRINCE had a message for Bobby this week on our Spreecast show:
“PRINCE would like to thank Bobby Z. for his continued support and pledges his friendship for eternity. All the best.”

Prince being Prince, he wouldn't accept it if he was alive, I doubt that wherever his spirit is today, i doubt he would have a problem with it. Either way, they aren't selling out places I don't think, they aren't getting rich and they deserve what they can make. They are coming to seattle next week, I haven't even gotten my ticket yet but they still haven't sold out a small venue here. |

Wendy told an interviewer she was going broke from it. Her and Lisa make a lot more doing Hollywood soundtracks. Lighten up! |

i'm glad to hear it, what is the size of the fillmore? with a name like fillmore, should be pretty big huh? the place they are playing is seattle, if i had to guess, i'd say 500-1000 capacity. ironically prince played there in the grand debut of third eye girl in 2013, he also charged 250 a ticket and he tore the house down, wiched i was there, i didn't know about it until it was over. |

dude, how much do you think the tickets sell for?
Tickets on the Purple Rain tour in 1984 went for what 30 dollars?
Selling out arenas, but it was the album sales back then that really made the money
not so today.
So let's see... They have to pay the venue for use, they have to pay the lighting person, technicians etc 5 band members plus Stokely (maybe Susannah)
how much do you think they are RAKING in?
I certainly hope they are making some good money from the tour.
. In a recent interview, Wendy's already said they're barely breaking even, IIRC. . Prince fans have this preposterous idea that anyone doing anything related to Prince is making mucho dinero. Thank you finally somebody read this Straight Jacket Funk Affair

I read something similar.
I saw them here in Detroit two months ago. Standing room only at this tiny venue that Prince himself would probably not have ever performed in.
The band seemed energized (except for maybe Lisa, who seemed bored). They performed stuff up to and including Parade.
You have to wonder . . . how far can they go?

All you people talking business 101 like they're doing this as an investment
This is grieving and healing and music. I'm sure they're not gonna let themselves go broke but nothing about this tour is about making money. Sometimes people can rise above. [Edited 7/15/17 15:21pm] |

ya, i know, it's good for everyone. but...if they can make any money, they deserve it, they came up with song parts, they were in the trenches with the man in his most popular phase. |

"The Time and Prince haven’t been able to one to a mutual agreement regarding the use of their original name, Time. So they’re taking lemons and making lemonade. They’ve renamed themselves The Original 7ven (because it includes ALL original 7 members- even Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis) and put “The Band Formerly Known As The Time” on their new album cover and website."

Yeah but the Time was never stopped by Prince from performing. You are talking about recording a new album. The thread is about the Revolution reuniting and performing. And since 2012 Prince gave his blessings. Morris Day & the Time have been performing as such. And when the '07' did perform they performed as 'The Time'

Maybe THEY do, but I am not one of them. I said I HOPE they're making good money because I think they are putting out a good product. And I don't think Prince fans are the only ones that fall into that trap. I think most fans of most famous singers, entertainers, and sports stars think they make mucho dinero when many, many of them don't. |

All these Revolution reunions without P leave me cold. For one reason: Wendy. I love her, so to say, but she's not the right person to lead-sing the Revolution. She's waaaay to serious, to dry, it's like "let's get this done" without any fun in it. I'm much better with their songs where she's not signing. She's not that cutie spontanious girl standing next to P 30 years ago anymore. [Edited 7/18/17 10:54am] |

Have U been? It is a great communal experience
And as Wendy states at the beginning. They are not 'leading' the songs in that respect. Brown Mark is singing lead, and Stokely is singing lead too

well no i live in Europe... It's my impression of the tens of video's leaked everywhere since years. If this tour she's less prominent, that would be better imo, i saw the vids with the guys signing and those are much better to me |

I kinda think that if he were still on the earth, he might not be pleased with the Revolution tour. Seems to me he was stingy in that regard. However, when I think of him as he might be today...in "heaven," I have to think that he is more loving and selfless and would be happy about the reunion.
I went a few days ago and it was a wonderful experience. The love was abundant....just as Prince would have wanted.

knowing what we know today, I wonder if the drugs might have made him wierd about things like that in the last few years. The Time thing made no sense to me at all. Yes he owned the stuff but it just seemed petty and mean to do it. Prince was a genius but he wasn't always right. |
