Wonder if this is to help promote the PR DELUXE... Looks like it will already fall off most TOP 40 charts in it's second week...

This is not the music industry some of us grew up with.
I've never seen so much "greatest hits" and catalogue releases on the Billboard.
To me it means two things: music is not regarded the way it used to be, and the sales figures are pretty poor by yesterday's standards, but we all know that.

It is without a doubt a part of the box promotion: only the PR videos have been published.

The world has moved on to box sets, VOD, Netflix and PS4. Music is something I'll do if I've really got nothing else to do. I'd rather watch a good movie than listen to music for two hours. As a teen in the 80s, music was my priority. PR Deluxe is the first CD I've bought in ages, ripped it, boxed it up. Might not see the light of day again.

Remember that good feeling and the dim lighting in your room maybe alone or
A couple friends, listening to the latest record purchase, while friends looked through your albums. Dang that was so awesome, the silence in the music it was the best. Now I'm kinda crying as I look up and that is exactly what I'm doing in my living room now, we are all quietly listening to music and reading. I think P was nostalgic about that peace that happens when you just put on a record, its magic.

There must not be any promotion on this YouTube channel. WDC video has less than 300,000 views even though it’s been available for over a week. I hope someone within the estate is working on an official Prince website that covers all things Prince - music, videos, merchandise, Paisley Park etc. And with it official Prince social media accounts (and no, not reusing his existing accounts) where stuff can be promoted to the masses.

Prince may, with a little help from Madonna, be the very first reason why you can laugh about it with your 'Ma in 2017. This is up with The Clash and The Jam. It's not just a damn funny song about sex in your youth, and the hornyness that goes with it. At the very heart, it's a critic of society.
But Prince overcomes society with a fierce perseverance: "You just gotta let me lay ya Gotta let me lay ya, lay ya You just gotta let me lay ya Gotta let me lay ya down!".
As if it wasn't clear.
The subject is mainly rural stained gowns in Daddy's cars.

London Calling less than a year before he starts recording, and there's also this video that may sparkle the apocalyptic and political tastes Prince acquired with time.
"Moonbeam Levels" feels like written from an atomic shelter vault: it's Prince at his highest when it comes to politics, and I bet this song has something to do with it.
I can totally picture Prince, still full of adrenaline, trying to sleep and getting "Going Underground" by The Jam on his hotel room's TV set, 2 months before he starts recording "Dirty Mind".
It's the spirit of it. Prince invented the drums overdubbing a drum machine, which sounds like a computer with soul. An instrument made of circuits, bended to his mood(s).
He was such an incredible drummer.

I love SKipper because you can tell he always listened to the music of its time, always learning. Just by listening. And most of the time he went: "Where's the fun? Where's the sexyness? Where's the humour?".
And then we get "Ronnie Talk To Russia", and "1999".

"Dirty Mind" and "Uptown" are incredibly good as audio remasters.
They're compressed as if especially for Youtube, and that's probably the case.
Perfect. True to the tape warmth.

It's great to be able to watch Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad in good quality. Prince was putting it all out there and probably trying a bit too hard while searching for his identity: the clothes, the hair, the mannerisms, the dance moves. I also love how we get a good look at Fink before he transformed into the Dr.

The change of look by the Dirty Mind and Uptown videos is startling. His subsequent progression in terms of music and image through the 80s still boggles my mind. Anyway, I love the way he twirls around, jerking his arm up and down at the end of Dirty Mind. But the highlight has to be when Andre shoves him out the way to take center mic in Uptown. Classic videos.

Well, I would never have gotten this far at his age. I stole some foulard in my mother's wardrobe but I was a little kid, it's just regular freudian 20th century style.
Now Prince knew he had Bambi eyes and Jagger's lips, but he's also used to seduce girls in other ways that Duane's.

And he envisions himself as a love poet. The first two albums are about, if we're able to ever oh ever stop kissing, and softly caressing ou faces, and staring at each other, making... slooow Love.
A Soft, loving Valentino that's gonna get strangled once some nasty groupies are going to get their hands on him, and that will take a Tour, before the (s)punk come out.
But still as a gentleman. Handkerchief?

I mean say you want to start a pop star career at 21 years old, and you want to state a male's feminine side, ike you're an accomplice of tenderness, the best you can come up with is Paul Anka style. You're going to croon or display testosterone, just to make sure you show the girl you're 90% male. Most of young heterosexuals work this way. Plus, you're not going to take any chances with the public tolerance, you're just starting. And is it going to be something you'll want people to look back at?

Prince? He's 50-50 almost right from the start ("I Wanna Be Your Lover", a song meant to be sung by a woman, so he sings it like a woman, what's the problem?), and then he tries to put more male chauvinism to it with "Dirty Mind" (daddy's car, the lower register in the bridge), but he still ends up stealing from his sister's wardrobe, and her ol' Babyliss®, and squealing. He's too excited.

Micheal's so high with funk he chuckles on the intro of "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough", and I love how the surexcitement grows so hard until you just can't keep it in, and it fatally explodes. But Prince's initial surexcitement is so rooted in sexual desire, he's full falsetto during 3 whole albums, and yelps hornily and hornilier before we end with Prince in full grasping of his low register.
Finally, to be able to play Elvis.
Just for a year or two? Most of all would have gone lock mode.

"Dirty Mind" is so funny to watch. Still very shy in real life, he goes so over the top, I mean who the fuck does the helicopter on stage? He's too loveable a kid, right from the start. To think five years after that, it's Cobo Hall (and everything that happened in between)...
