I started to say it was for the gals he preferred to date, but thought that was mean so I decided not to say that... I dunno about anywhere else, but here in NY before the paccy jewelry, when I was in jr high (8th grade) in the early 70s, the popular girls wore real pacifiers around their necks on those metal bead chains...they'd suck them during class sometimes...the boys ended up distracted and would get in fights with each other after someone said something sexually rude about a girl sucking a paccy so the school outlawed them on school premises...

It only lasted for the spring semester of school...so imagine pretty young girls wearing shorts and halters or crop tops, long bare legs, sunglasses, and sucking pacifiers...

I remember it was over by summer...When we got to high school the girls sucked Tootsie Pops or Blow Pops (bubble gum)...But that was allowed and there were no problems...

ya know LBrent, you just brought back a jr high/high school memory....those pacifciers were replaced by a hard candy sucky called a "Ring Pop"....a jewel shaped hard sucky candy was placed in a plastic "ring" that the gal would wear on her finger, like a wedding ring.

When I was in school, they would actually fit an adult hand...it was a big thing to wear those and suck on them. Nowadays, they are made for very small hands, for children.

Gurl, YAS...I remember those rings!... I was a Nuk paccy gurl, tho...Had a LOT of explaining to do to my Dad...another fad was teens girls bringing the tiny jars of baby food bananas to school to lick out of the jars during class...also outlawed by the school for distracting the boys...Boys are so silly...
