What's your greatest remembrance of genius?

Just the sheer fact that he was creating absolutely wonderful music all day. Anybody can write a song, sometimes you are lucky. But he WAS music. Look at his eighties output - all hits, no miss. That is GENIUS.

Inherent: "existing in something as a permanent, essential, or characteristic attribute".
Intuitive: "using or based on what one feels to be true even without conscious reasoning; instinctive".

Prince's genius was in his inherent intuitive nature for music. I remember a Nude Tour rehearsal boot. It was a soundboard recording. The first few songs of that show were one big medley, based on the beat for "The Future". They ran through "1999", "Housequake", and more. The kick drum was a constant 1-2-3-4, rather than on the usual 1 and 3, or a variation thereof. At some point, one little kick wasn't there in the drum programming. He stopped the song, and you could hear him ask Michael B "what's up with this kickdrum?" I'd never noticed when listening, but Prince did. One little beat, and he stopped everything to find the problem. We've heard plenty of stories about

Music just was, to him. I mean, imagine having the job where you just make music. You rehearse. You're not picking up the kids from school. You don't have to run to pay bills, or pick up your cleaning. You just make music. It takes a genius to really accomplish that every day. And do it well. Then you find people who surround you to make sure you accomplish that every single day.

Also, to simplify it - a turn of phrase, a guitar solo, or a chord progression. Someting just a little different, or peculiar that, for us as Prince fans, became the norm. I think it's why sometimes other music pales in comparison. There are so few artists to really possess that inherent and intuitive nature about music. The list is sort, and I'm glad I found one on that list to invest so much of myself into.
