They both have free trials so have a look and see if either is worth it to you. For me it isn't worth it but I own all the albums and have them on my phone, so streaming Prince isn't needed.

There's much more Prince on Tidal, even the NPG albums down to singles he only released on Tidal...for the same price dog.

As well, his Purple Pick Of The Week Playlist is pretty damn good too.

PP4 is right. If you're paying Tidal has the most material.

I have the free version of Spotify. Not as much Prince as Tidal. It has the 3 TIME albums, Sheila E's up to ICON.

I don't know about you, but I get miffed everytime I tune into a so-called "Prince" channel, and after the first Prince track, it plays 4 to 5 other artists instead.

In my world, a Prince channel... plays only Prince! Which is why I prefer to play my own playlist on my own device, and keep my money in my pocket

You can get Spotify for free, so why not?

If you're a Prince fan, it's unlikely there's anything on Spotify or Apple Music that you don't already have.

It's possible that you might find something you don't have on Tidal. If you do, buy it, don't stream it.

If you're going to stream music and pay for it, I'd go with Apple Music or Google Play…something that lets you upload your own music (especially tracks not available on their service) and sync it with all your devices, so all your music is with you wherever you go.

For the time being I would stick with Tidal, much much more selection & they have the same music available to listen to outside of the Prince genre. I'm very satisfied with Tidal thus far.

Btw, to say someone isn't a Prince fan b/c they don't have the albums on cd is complete BS. New fans aren't going to drop $500 on cds right away. That's some super snobby BS if I've ever heard it.

I'm a Prince fan & I don't own every album on CD. One, b/c much of my collection was stolen, two b/c I ain't going to drop a sh!t ton of money on CD's when I have everything in digital format. With all that aside, TO EACH THEIR OWN. RESPECT ALL PURPLE PEEPS!

Apple Music has HnR2 which is not on Spotify. And you can add your own cd's/downloads to Apple and Google.

I'm also hooked up on the family plan, I'm paying 15.99$/month and 5 other of my family members are using it. Gives them access to a premium account subscription with sound quality of 320kbs OGG.

Spotify is also great because it has tons of playlists, allowing for basically endless music discovery. If you're a lover of music and listen to various genres pretty seamlessly then spotify is definitely a great bet

Imo super worth it, they're practically giving away entire catalogs of music away for a ridculously cheap price

Tried Tidal for a couple of months when Prince removed all of his music from Spotify in June 2015

This is how I would describe my experience;

ran back to Spotify as fast as I could. Android UI is awful and it kept on deleting my downloads

I tried that but it keeps messing with the tags, it plays the right song but wrong cover art and different artist with ' Prince' in it's name. You also have to place those tracks in a playlist to listen on a mobile device.

Apple & Google do a better job imo, once uploaded it's on all your devices and you can adjust tags and covers if necessary.

I have my Prince catalog (over 130 CD's) accessible on my phone via streaming using PLEX. Its great

Different people have different needs though, it really just depends how a person listens to their music.
