On the linear notes of the Jewel Box it says that Prince asked Andre Cymone to come on stage during his 1986 birthday concert in Detroit and perform it with him, but I have that tape and there is no performance of this song. Could this just be because they had to edit parts of it and didn't inclucde it?

I don't know whether Andre made an appearance or not
offhand, but most of the boots of this show are
incomplete as they're usually taken from the TV
broadcast or Japanese Laserdisc, and the broadcast
wasn't the whole show.

I was actually at that concert in Detroit. Yes, Andre came on stage with Prince and played The Dance Electric and then had a kind of guitar vs. bass jam session after the song. Andre would play a lick on bass, and then Prince would answer on guitar. It was TOO cool and one of the best parts of the concert for me. Many years later, when I discovered the tape from the japanese special, I was all excited to see this again. I was way disappointed when I found out it was edited out. I've never been able to locate an unedited version. . .
