TrivialPursuit poured ice cold water on peoples' faces and slapped them back to reality....snatched the pacifiers out of their mouths while they were still sucking....somebody had to do it...

Hes had a lot of attention and love since his death. Now the only way to keep it going is to make some smart decisions in the next few months and years. Purple Rain will not hold the masses forever, if they spent 2016 and 2017 mostly hyping this classic up there'll eventually come a time when it'll just be oversaturating the public by continuing to focus on it. I really hope Prince's music, pre and post PR, is treated respectfully and promoted properly in the near future. He's got so many good songs the public would dig, they just need to be put out there and promoted.

Maybe eye do, just not like eye did before pimp2

That's cool, but everyone doesn't respond positively to the cold water and face slapping approach. So for those that it helped great, for other's just keep taking it one day at a time. Some days will be betteer than others.

He did die a statistic. Can we even begin to list the rock stars who died from drugs or alcohol? It's sad but "Prince dead at 57, Fentanyl overdose". It's just so typical. It's hurtful but it's the truth. On the other hand, he also died a legend in his own time. That's a pretty amazing feat for any artist, to be recognized as a legend while they're alive. Even Mayte noted her Vicodin missing by handfuls sometimes, and him stealing it and taking it. He had a problem with prescription drugs. To say he was an addict, I think, invites visions of a dirty, roughed up person living in an alley, or whatever other Hollywood image we've seen. But we walk among those fighting addiction every day, whether we realize it or not. So yeah, he did die a statistic.

What I mean by going out better than that is that he could have gotten his addiction under control. He could have died by natural causes, 25 years from now, or whenever nature took its course with him, and his journey completed. Unfortunately, he died a drug addicted rock star. It kills me to even type that. I take no pleasure in it, but it's the truth. We have to maneuver in truth, no matter what that truth is, in order to stay authentic to his legacy, and ourselves as Prince loyalists. I don't love him less, or respect him less because of it. I feel bad for his last weeks or days, and his struggle. It's one I don't understand personally as I've never done drugs or been addicted to anything, but I fully respect the process of trying to clean up.

The problem with that statement (to me) is that SO many entertainers/stars that die from drugs do so due to a casual use of drugs/alcohol that ends tragically. If Prince's death was due to chronic pain that caused him to become addicted, that is a MUCH different type of death than what is inferred from "a drug addicted rock star." Not to be a hypocrite, Prince could have been a habitual recreational drug user. My point is, we don't know for sure. There have been a LOT of other entertainers/rock stars where we know for sure that it was casual drug use/alcoholism that ended tragically. For example, though taking drugs to combat chronic sleep deprivation seems to be what killed Michael Jackson, I doubt people frame him as "a drug addicted rock star".

I feel nothing. I dont think he is to be honored for each show for the rest of time. Thats ridiculous.

I think some Prince fans should move on. There are posts made here and aborad with statements saying theyre crying daily etc. and even moving to Mn to be closer to the "action."

These are grown people with kids.

I've said for a long time that Prince fans get in a self-imposed rut with their melodrama bullshit like, "Too hard, can't talk, tears again". Really, cuz I just read six words, so they're already overstating it. No one is crying daily. I dreaded the anniversary coming up, or June 7. People planned to purposely stay home and make themselves cry for the whole day. I mean, come the fuck on. That's stupid as fuck.

"Well, everyone deals with things differently." I'm not telling people to not mourn. But grieving is a journey. You don't sit your ass in one spot and just stay there. That's called not growing, and that's the last thing Prince would have wanted for anyone - to not grow. My mother passed away April 21, 2012. And while I miss her deeply, and I sometimes get mad that she's gone, or sad, or whatever, I can't allow myself to sit in that forever. It's unreasonable. I miss Prince as much as anyone, a lot. He died a legend, and a statistic. He could have went out better than that. But - do I dwell on that every damn day? Hell no, I got bills to pay, shit to do. I have to live in the truth. The truth is he's gone. So whenever I hear a fan say "I still can't believe it", I think "yes you do believe it. You're choosing not to. There's a difference."

For someone to move to a cold ass place like Minnesota, just because Prince lived there... don't even get me started. Move when he was alive. He's gone now. What are they going to do there now? Go on tours every week at Paisley Park?

As far as award shows - I don't give a fuck. They're mostly boring anyway. He was mentioned across the board in 2016, and into the shows in early 2017 for the previous year's losses. Oscars, Golden Globes, Grammys, BET, AMAs, and so on.

If folks need to feel that 24/7 tribute, put "Sometimes It Snows In April" on repeat, and cry every day. The rest of us have life to live, and balance that with grief, with loss, with joy and bliss and happiness. To be imbalanced in one's grief for Prince is to dishonor the man and his legacy of life, music, and love.

1. They say it's beautiful in the spring time, plus some people would simply be trading one cold climate for another

2. Sure should have

3. Work at Paisley

I lived there about 20 years ago. The spring & summers are fucking gorgeous. The men......my God the men! They must stay indoors for 9 months and work out because they're out in full force and mouth-watering in the warm months.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.
