Prince on Death, and Life

I've been toying with a new playlist, focusing mostly on songs in which Prince explicitly addresses his own death. Thematically, I'm also adding in a couple of the apocalyptic songs, and avoiding some of his more popular tunes. I'm also adding some of his songs that are just rambunctuous celebrations of love and life -- which means that God is also implicated.

Here's what I have so far, curious what others think. It's a bit crowded but I haven't played it through to winnow it out musically. This is in roughly chronological order:

Moonbeam Levels

I Would Die 4 U

The Dance Electric

A Place In Heaven

The Ladder

Crystal Ball

Life Can Be So Nice

Mountains

Anna Stesia

The Grand Progression

Love... Thy Will Be Done

7

There Is Lonely

Still Would Stand All Time

Dolphin

Strays of the World

The Same December

Into The Light

The Holy River

Until U're in My Arms Again

Comeback

Last December

Way Back Home

Deliverance

June

Interesting concept for a playlist. Your choices are good! Give it a listen, see how it flows, and tweak accordingly.

Hmmm, important autobiographically, but I don't know that it fills the same introspective vibe of fear and self-doubt that pervades many of these songs.

I think that's the theme that emerges -- from "he really doesn't want 2 die" in ML, to "I was born alive" and "I'm happiest when I can see my way back home".
