For me, the real gem of this set is the studio version of Electric Intercourse. I was never overly fussed on the live version that had been circulating for years, but this studio version is just all kinds of amazing. So weird and wacky... and so Prince. I actually think I prefer it to The Beautiful Ones.

It's a wonderful song, i did not liuke the first ime i heard it. But the live version, i mean the video version one is just out of this world.

I hope I don't offend anybody, but... when I listen to We Can F**k, the spoken part at about minute 6:00 reminds me to Michael Jackson's voice. I just can't recognise Prince's voice. Am I the one?

But I agree, that jam is straight bedroom Prince magnificience.

Had a flu for past few days and feel like shit, so have not really done much more listening or shot and Adorecream video about it yet, but hold in there. It is midwinter here, June 29 is like your December 29.

I am still of the opinion this disc 2 is superior and a welcome release.

i think that should be:

Doesn't anyone remember the interview where he speaks of giving Dance Electric to Andre? He mocks talking to Andre saying "You want this..its a iht, you know its a hit" in mock holier than thou speak. I think it may have been that France interview with all the extras surrounding him. Prince knew the song was a stone cold jam. And was wiling to give it up for his friend.

Yup - it was on MTV. He said that, "You want this..." in his Jamie Starr voice. It was awesome.

He actually said "You need it! You need it!" cool wink

For once I agree with you, that 5 letter version of his surname is disrespectful and was used by all the tabloids back in the day. We like the full name. Some Michael Jackson fan sites ban it and even censor is as a word.

As a MJ fan I honestly don;t see the big deal about people saying Jacko. And I don't understand why people get offended by it. But these days everybody seem to find anything to get offended by.
People call Prince a Purple Midget and I don't see people get offended by that. lol

Because it's a nickname used by the press to offend Michael, to portray him as someone unhinged from reality. He said himself he didn't like that nickname.

Since the publication of Joe Vogel's article, How Michael Jackson Made 'Bad', there's been a disturbing trend amoungst MJ communities that I've seen spread without challenge like a mutating bacteria. It's this proposition that Jacko is somehow a racial slur against black people.

British tabloid deemed him "Wacko Jacko" in 1985, but the nickname's etymology goes back further: "Jacco" or "Jacco Macacco" was Cockney slang for "monkey."

- Joe Vogel, The Atlantic (2012)

While the derivation true, it seems very far fetched to associate it with, Jacko. Jacco Macacco was the first famous baiting monkey (or ape, his specific species is unknown) that was pitted against dogs in fights to the death for observers monetary gain. Monkey-baiting is a horrific sport that animal welfare legus still battle against today in some parts of the world. In most cases the if the apes are defeated by whatever animal they're pitted against, the owners leave them for death, which sometimes, takes days of agonising pain. Spare a thought for the defeated dogs, as well.

In the U.K. and Australia it's almost customary to add an 'o' or a 'y' as a term of endearment or yes, ridicule, to the end of a name. How is this not a more plausible intention, rather than the far-fetched association with animal cruelty from the 19th century? While it seems natural for Michael Jackson fans to always highlight any shred of trivial or fabricated victimisation, for a community so obsessed with spreading facts about certain aspects of Michael's life, but are willing to exploit barbarism with no factual basis.

The point of this is simple - has there ever been any publishing use of any deviation of the term 'Jacco'? If so, why has there not been any evidence to support the claim that the original author of the name intended it within a racial context? I ask, as there doesn't seem to be any association between it and Michael Jackson on the internet before 2012.

People need to stop perpetrating this nonsense.

Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.

Ah. Apparently 2012 was year zero and therefore renders any dictionary definition of the term "Jacko" irrelevant. Thanks.

Ah, I guess the fact that "Jacko" is a common [non-racist] nickname in British/ Australian-English and that it was first used in reference to Michael in a British tabloid is irrelevant. Thanks.

Somehow I doubt MJ would be offended by people calling him Jacko because sadly he's dead.
I think it's more about certain fans who get triggered and easily offended by anything that in there own minds is an insult to MJ. Why care what other people call him? In the end his music is still the same and people are allowed to call anyone whatever they want.

Of course it's just a coincidence that MJ died on Geroge Michael's birthday which was the same date that Prince signed with Warners and the same date Purple Rain was released. And another coincidence that George Michael died on the same day as James Brown died which was on Nimrod's birthday & Prince died on the same day as Jesus.

I'd come to check this thread after a while away, and found myself in the midst of a conversartion about a nickname for Michael Jackson. I was honestly thrown for a moment when I saw your post, and had to check to see what the actual subject of the thread was, because I'd forgotten.

Unfortunately, I can't play because I haven't listened to the disc in probably at least 3 weeks, and I didn't listen that many times before that. I can just do a general breakdown into groups:

We Can Fuck, Computer Blue, Wonderful Ass are top tier, 10 pointers

Love and Sex, Katrina's Paper Dolls, The Dance Electric are probably 9s.

Possessed, Electric Intercourse, and Father's Song we'll say are 8s.

Those are all well in the range of very good Prince tracks

Our Destiny/Roadhouse Garden I like, but the sticking them together poorly--knocks down to a 7. Both songs might be 8s, I'm just annoyed by the splice (Note: I said might be 8s. They also might be 7s by themselves. They're weaker than the solid 8s.

Velvet Kitty Cat is a 7. I don't dislike it, but it doesn't ever really interest me.

I know, but like I said I don't think he would care NOW. But it seems the only people who care or are offended by it (not disrespect) are oversensitive fans who should have better things to worry about.

What Neversin said wasn't offensive and honestly everybody knows and identifies MJ with the word Jacko, were not talking about the N word here or something. If you don't like the word just ignor it.
