I can't tell because past the initial and very brief disappointment (so many remixes, knowing most of the tracks...) I quickly, madly fell in love with Crustal Ball. And I was 21, a Prince fan for 9 years while now I'm 40 and a Prince fan for 28 years, and I had maybe 400 albums when I now have more than 5000... Hard for me to compare. One thing that I know most people disagree with though, but that strikes me even more now that I can "look" at it with a more mature artistic reflection, though, is that I find the sequencing on CB no less than mindblowing: Prince apparently took great care to make sure the ensemble was extremely dynamic, and I still have a ball listening to it every once in a while if only for that sequencing. Nevertheless, I don't doubt that if "From The Vault & previously Unreleased" (lames title ever ) had been released as such in 1998, I would have tripped on it like crazy. Probably not as much as I tripped on CB because CD reflected Prince's artistic vision and was much more thought out and cohesive than most people thought at the time, while this is just a bunch of tracks put together by a lazy WB employee (who obviously didn't take half as much care as that dude who replied to BigChick on FB claims), but I nevertheless would have tripped like crazy, if only because by then many more tracks would have been entirely new (or new in such sound quality). I just heard a song called "There's No Telling What I Might Do" from the 1983 piano sessions. If this is really the track "Wednesday" Then I'm glad they left it off. [Edited 7/3/17 12:13pm]

Playing it non stop. My favorite.

It is the same song (though obviously not that version). A version of Wednesday (with Jill Jones on vocals) leaked right after the Purple Rain Expanded release. As did a version of Our Destiny with her vocals instead of Lisa's. (and Killing at the Soda Shop, but that's not Purple Rain related at all). The thread about these three leaks is over on the Associated Artists forum.

. It's an OBXa/OB8 patch used on all of his tours Controversy through PR. Also used in CB, modified form of the patch is the 'white noise' that conceals the truncation at the beginning of PR, etc

I've fiddled around with the tracklist in iTunes 'til I found an order to my liking. Turns out the tracks would split pretty evenly over four sides of 12" vinyl.

Some good songs, some interesting songs, some stuff that should've remained unreleased. . Overall not in favor of this type of tomb-raiding. If P wanted any of this stuff out there he'd have released it himself. Or left instructions to do so in his absence. But it probably could've been worse. The disc is pretty listenable in terms of consistently worthwhile (for one reason or another) songs. . Fidelity-wise, this disc is an embarrassment. If they can't put together a truly 'release quality' package, I'd just as soon let the vault stuff remain in the vault. Releasing unfinished material is questionable enough, but doing so in this fasion is an insult to P's legacy. I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

Good analysis on the track. Especially the beginning. The intro he spliced in from his '84 Birthday show, it would really just start with "Come on baby hurt me!" It just sounds like he put SO MUCH into this song. There are even backwards Beatles "I'm Ony Sleeping" -like guitars going through the left channel. I just love it. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

U raise an an intresting analysis as Prince joined Mutiny and Ice Cream Castles together live and would often sing Dance Electric. he also did reeharsals of all three of these songs for listens in 2014 Maybe it was just the way he was writing songs at the time as Mutiny was written before Dance Electric even though Dance Electric came out earlier.
This is from Princevault

Compared to what it could be this release is apalling cash grab in my opinion. no demos , no associated artist songs no first avenue 83 dvd. Even songs releated to purple rain like g-spot wednesday did not make the cut. This discs just is mostly any song release in 83-84 and alot are not the best versions. Dance electric unfinshed Electric intercouse far inferior to benefit 83. i am pretty sure he would have used that version in album as leagues above one we got . Possessed film version it is but no where near as good as early version. Our destiny. hate that song. roadhouse garden better why make me listen to other song first? Katrinas paper dolls supposedly a better version exists. The rest are fine and i like the songs. This release just does not feel like it is good enough to me and missing to much purple rain releated material for me. it is time warners packed in and the estate too and sold rights to someone who can do a professional job

I'm noticing that a lot of people hate "Our Destiny" but love "Roadhouse Garden", and I could maybe understand that when listening to the live versions. But the studio version of Roadhouse? It's definitely lacking something, it doesn't even compare to the funkier live versions I've heard.
Also I have a soft spot for "Our Destiny" no matter how cheesy it is
