I agree. Love and Sex to me was hot trash and sounded even worse the second and third time I tried to listen to it. Maybe Id like it if I could understand what P's even screaming lol new levels of screechiness. We Can Fuck isn't the best version but aight it's pretty funky I can dig it. I think Id like Possessed and Electric Intercourse if I wasnt so used to the amazing versions we've all been jamming to for years. I always felt those 2 were some of his best sung tracks so the wobbly falsetto was kind of unwelcome (to me). Lisa usually sings alright (in a kind of thin but melodic way) but Our Destiny jfc was unreleased for a reason. Thank God for Wonderful Ass & Computer Blue. Fathers Song and KPD are pleasant enough for me, the latter's dark lyrics are what I love from P. Velvet Kitty Cat though... i still have no fucking idea why this would be on the album [Edited 6/27/17 15:43pm] Maybe do, just not like did before

I really like the repetitive beat to We Can Fuck, you might even say I find joy in it. I mean, Prince probably agreed with you that it wasn't as good as it could be and ended up doing When Doves Cry instead, but I think it's brilliantly done regardless. Good enough to release anyway, glad we have it. I've never been a fan of the Graffiti Bridge version - too overcooked, trying too hard to make the song into something it's not imho. It may also have been written, or used, solely to match the appropriate parts of the screenplay (and as a general motif for the Kid), and the credit to John Nelson seemed an appropriate gesture later. .

They did good with disc 2. Definitely a winner - except Electric Intercourse was a letdown. The live version from the First Av show is so much better. I almost can't listen to the studio version here it so pales in comparison. It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

Which version of Possessed do you think is used in the background in the movie in the scene where Morris and Apollonia are having drinks? The speed matches this disc 2 version, but it's difficult for me to hear the instrumentation. "Love & honesty, peace & harmony"

. It's the instrumental of the version on Disc 2. .

Depends upon the extent of your neurosis I suppose, but I meant for post-conversion Prince. Personally, I missed his foul-mouthed edginess. It’s true that our attitude towards sex and rebellion usually changes as we grow older, but I don’t have any time for moral piety (especially from Prince... PRINCE!). Each to their own though. The fact is, “We Can Fuck” is more honest and authentic, and is better art for it.

When I was listening I did think 'this is like an artwork!'. If you think about it literature is often revered for conveying the passion of love and sex experienced by the characters concerned yet there doesn't seem to be a musical equivalent. This to me is it. [Edited 6/28/17 8:13am]

Yes, I know what you mean, but on the other hand there are certain thinkers who believed that music itself, independent of language, is the most direct expression of ambiguous human passions and drives (Nietzsche, Freud etc). [Edited 6/28/17 15:40pm]

Thanks for answering
Regarding Father's Song, I believe that John L. Nelson wrote a very short melody (similar to a radio jingle) and Prince developed the song. Does it mean that Prince co-wrote it? A similar case is We Can F**k: George Clinton is credited as co-autor in the GB version, although I can't find a real contribution as Prince had the entire song written several years before.

Maybe GC is responsible for those hideous overdubs like "Pump em, we funk em, and I'm testin positive to the funk, I would rather be in anybody's trunk and let your cup overflow". . But I agree, that jam is straight bedroom Prince magnificience. . Had a flu for past few days and feel like shit, so have not really done much more listening or shot and Adorecream video about it yet, but hold in there. It is midwinter here, June 29 is like your December 29. . I am still of the opinion this disc 2 is superior and a welcome release. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Is it true that OD/RG leaked a few years ago (as Casey wrote)? I thought it was only since a few months...Too bad that they did a mix of the two songs in the official release: glad to have it per track.. "Money won't buy U happiness but it'll pay 4 the search."

Oh, it definitely should NOT be that. It IS, but it SHOULDN'T be.

By the way, when I hear Prince singing:
Dance the Dance Electric
the lyrics
Mutiny!
come to my mind. Is Mutiny an evolution of The Dance Electric or something? Or the other way round? The more I listen to them, the more similar they seem to me. And according to Princevault, the recording dates are very near. [Edited 6/29/17 7:48am]
