I read an article the other day about Elvis Presley. It was the 40th anniversary of his death, and a poll was taken of millenials. The majority of them were not familiar with him or his music, and the article inferred that as the years pass, Elvis will become just a name on a page. To me this is a cautionary tale about Paisley Park and Prince, and I am sure the Graceland management team realizes it, too. I cannot see an insurgence in the fan base simply because Prince is no longer here. No artists are making the trek to PP to record - the big names have their own studios these days - because Prince is no longer here. You don't hear of a covers album being made by the big names in music to benefit a charity in Prince's honor. Maybe the estate could arrange a charity auction of Prince's guitars (not the ones he loved the most), drum kits, and memorabilia to benefit a cause he championed. Eric Clapton even sold Blackie to benefit his rehab center. Someone needs to get a handle on making him part of daily life so that his music lives on.

--Graceland people are doing this Battle of Band thing and her smartly having the yearly celebration but we can hope WB gets the music out.

THANK YOU for stating this so powerfully. It's killing me that Prince is getting lost in the chaos of the estate, which is just money, buildings, stuff, legal permissions/contracts. I guess Prince and the music are in there somewhere...but how to pry it out?

^^ Y'all seem to be some of the worst woud be pryers...

This is not a bad thing as we know some music is going to come out and the family and lawyers can kick rocks.

Yet WB will not feel the urge to monetize all that stuff ASAP; they are the one year, one album company.

Also they have yet to find out how to properly release a reissue record like the PR thing or anything that resembles a similar release.

So we'll have to wait to find out what product they will allow us to purchase...

There is hope. I have been a fan of Elvis and Prince since the I was a kid. My first two vynil records were Elvis' greatest hits and the I wanna be your lover 45. It's a whole different world now.

The internet thingy changes the game. There were no constant reminders of Elvis dying and his legacy. I had to convince my friends to spend a a half day at Graceland in the 90's. They are still Elvis fans.

My daughter is in HS and spreading the good word of the Purple One. Her friends are finding stuff on the interenet and digging it. Like the 20 minute version of America. At the end of the school year her classroom was singing the Raspberry Beret chorus biggrin They're asking me, about songs and where they fit in his music catalog. There is hope

They will not do it all at one time but they will get stuff out. Is it going to be cheap and cheesy sure but I would not say Prince was spending big bucks to market and package his stuff so not really a big differenct.

I will take something or nothing.

Polydor did some decent remaster CD sets for James Brown's works.

Take a look at them to see what love of music means.

Carver County District Court just posted 3 documents relating to the appointment of a Second Special Administrator (I will abbreviate as 2SA) for the PRN Estate. The 2SA will be investigating issues relating to the UMG deal. The 2SA is Peter J. Gleekel and the law firm Larson King, LLP.

In the court docs:

The Second Special Administrator shall provisionally be entitled to receive compensation at a rate of $430 per hour for Peter Gleekel, $400 per hour for Patrick H. O’Neill, Jr., and the rate of $200 per hour for associates working with them. When submitting the Special Administrator Fee Affidavit, the Second Special Administrator shall serve unredacted copies to counsel for Comerica and the Heirs (redacting only those items necessary to preserve the attorney-client privilege and work-product doctrine). The Court shall conduct an initial review and may provisionally approve Comerica’s payment of the submitted fees and costs. Comerica and the Heirs shall have 14 days after service to submit written objections. The Court will consider all submissions made by the parties and will order the Second Special Administrator to reimburse the Estate in an amount that the Court determines to be reasonable and appropriate if the Court believes that there was an overpayment of compensation, attorneys’ fees, costs, or expenses. Comerica and the Heirs shall maintain the confidentiality of the Second Special Administrator Fee Affidavits and all associated filings, and any submission of unredacted billing statements or supporting details to the Court, Comerica, or the Heirs shall not be deemed to constitute a waiver of confidentiality, the attomey-client privilege, or work product doctrine.

Gleekel appears to be an experienced litigator in complex civil cases.

He will only investigate the UMG deal.

I appears they have decided not to pursue a Tribute Concert investigation. Most likely because Jobu has filed a lawsuit against the Estate, Charlie, and Lonny, and Comerica will be able to take depositions and gather information/documents through the discovery process.

The deal with WB is done and they have already shown us that they are not spending a lot of money on these projects. Prince could not even do anything about it as he had thrown up his hands and walked away from the PR project because I guess he saw how cheap and cheesy it was going to be. It is obvious that music just does not sell like it use to and profit motive is just not there.

I wonder how old she is and why she thinks P could be her father... her mom passed in 1996! That's a long time ago. I wonder if she ever tried to contact Prince himself.

--- I wonder as well. There was another young lady name Taz who was turned down for a DNA test because she had already had one with Prince back in 2001. Made me wonder how many times that happened to him.

I didnt know Taz had a DNA test 2001.

I thought it was because she did not submit an affidavit from her mother to substantiate the claim?

Penny - People have a year after the heirs have been named to file a claim for DNA testing. That is why the Judge named the heirs before the girls' appeals were completed.

It was kind of in her little narrative that her mom grew up with Prince in the sam neighborhood and that her mom moved away as a teen because she was pregnant. Apparently she was told by family members that Prince was her dad and had a had a test before.

Thank you. I forgot it wasn't a year after death, that it was when they were declared heirs.

There were more than 7 I think.
