this is exactly why i hate the fact that he isn't here. all kinds of people can just say whatever they want about any event that may or may not have really happened and we just take it as gospel because he can't shut it down. then you also have people with bias when it comes to certain band members and/or past associates. so these conversations/discussions usually end up going nowhere.

Yep, and I've seen people on social media claiming he was a decades long drug addict and who had cancer and committed suicide. And others who claim he had AIDS, and still others who think he was poisoned by his chefs. Seems to me there's nothing some people won't believe at this point.

So while laying on the hospital bed and the nurse asking him 'how are you doing' he replies 'I'm fine how are you?' She replied back thanks but I'm not on the hospital bed sir. I know a lot of men who just won't admit they are going through something that shows their mortality.

Why? If anyone is going to write about their expereinces as a musican or performer and not admit the times when they have been a diva or moody or less than civil due to stress, insecurity, etc (and haven't we all had moments like that..I know I can be super impatient with my kids) than I have no use for a memoir that only scrutinizes someone else (especially someone who isnt around to defend himself).

They are saying they know what "he couldn't say " Meaning they think they knew enough about him to tell us what he could and could not say. Kind of hard to do that when by their own admission they were not speaking to him which came out of their own mouths.

I honestly do not know what it is about these two chicks that makes some people on this board hang on their every word as if it what they have to say is the gospel handed down from the lord even when their is proof with video that they are talking out of their ass.

Yes Laura it's true, their opinion on Prince is just that and isn't based on extensive interviews with those close to Prince around the time his death. It wouldn't hold up as evidence in a court of law.

I still like to hear them speak though, sorry.

1. I liked the 10 or so songs I knew of his when I was a kid growing up (particularly WDC and Kiss). I went to the Super BOwl in 2007 in Miami (my father worked for the Indianapolis Colts), I saw the halftime show in the rain, and I was suprised at his guitar playing prowess (loved the hashup of Along the Watchtower/Best of You). Flash forward to April 21st, 2016, I was teaching basic English in a high school. A teacher's aide in her early 50's says "Guess who died today. Prince" I reacted with shock and then some of my students and I talked about his death. About 70% of my students were African American so there were discussions of yet another black icon dying (one girl was pretty bummed), there were MJ comparisons (even then I was bigger fan of PRince so I was team Prince) and there were some kids who didn't know who he was. I went home that night and dug out my pictures from the Superbowl and looked him up on youtube. I didn't find the superbowl footage at the time, but I saw a great many concert clips, videos, and fan made tributes as well as obscure songs. I wasn't aware of the belief in an 1980's peak and I just listened to what the fans seemed to be suggesting. I actually heard "there is lonely" before I ever heard "Another Love..." or "Ballad of Dorothy Parker". And then I discussed Prince a little more with my students the next day. One girl had actually watched Purple Rain with her mom the night before his death so she thought it was pretty trippy. My obsession grew from there. I got a tidal subscription (I must have sensed how unavailable some of his later work would be) and I bought quite a few downloads of albums from them before the estate stuck it to them. I bought physical CD's. I own about 300 or so songs of his now...(maybe more).

• Favorite 80's album--unoriginal answer but I would say Sign ofthe Times followed by 1999 and then Purple Rain. I like Parade a lot but I am not as fond of his vocals. (Controversy and Dirty Mind have really really grown on me but I wish he used his falsetto a little less often on those albums) Around the World in a Day is an inconsistent album but I could listen to Raspberry Beret, Paisley Park (love that song), Pop LIfe and Tamborine all day long...LOL> Starting to really like LoveSexy and the Batman Soundtrack as well (give or take a few songs I don't love as much).

• Favorite 90's album--I have talked about this before. I tend to create complilations of his songs for myself because of the inconsistency of the quality..(for example I picked the best songs from Graffitti Bridge and Diamond and Pearls and created my own playlist..) But the most consistently solid albums of his in the 90's were the Truth, The Vault (Old Friends for sale) and the Gold Experience. (But I do love a ton of songs in that period...so some of my favorite 90's songs actually come from the love symbol album (7, And God created Women, Damn U) , Crystal Ball (Days of wild) and Graffiti Bridge (joy in repetition and the Question of U). I think my favorite 90's song overall is Pink Cashmere.

• Favorite 2000's--3121 and Art Official Age...(also quite fond of his last album and musicology) not a fan of Planet Earth (love a few songs though), I dont really like MLPS sound, find HNR phase 1 inconsistent but a bit underrated, find Lotusflower and Rainbrow CHildren musically strong but at times lyrically annoying, find 20ten to be catchy and mostly pleasant.
