Which Prince album have you changed your evaluation of the most? There are several albums I have altered my evaluation of since they first came out. I tended to be somewhat disappointed when he came out with a particularly commercial album but now I tend to enjoy the hooks of these though still admire the less commercial releases as well. The CD that has really surprised me lately is Musicology. It is a fun one to listen to!! What is.your choice?

None. What I loved I still love. What I didn't I still don't. I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

Newpowersoul . Hated it at first, save for Wasted Kisses. . Now I really appreciate a number of tracks - Mad Sex, Come On, Sho-bed-ooh, When u love Somebody, The One, Until U're in my arms again. . Don't get me wrong, it's not up there with 1999 & SOTT however I enjoy the grooves.

Art Official Age...and not because of his death. I discovered it after his death. At first, it didn't register with me (the spoken word parts threw me off) . Then I started liking it a great deal after a couple listens.

Same for me, but it was Spotify that got me to listen. The roll out of the album, singles and performances (SNL) never got me to listen.
"Time" is currently my favorite

Maybe Alan Leeds was partly right when he criticized P's live SNL performance. He was way way too hard on him in my opinion. But he got one thing right...Prince tried to put too much into one performance. He should have just played too whole songs from Art Official Age. (But P was trying to promote two albums at the same time> in his defense.)

I think after his death a lot of stuff sounds better. I dont mean in a romantic nostalgic way, I mean its almost as if you can sit back and just digest it.
I know that sounds like I wanted Prince dead, if anything I cant get over it. However in terms of his music for the first time since I first heard him in 1984 I feel like I am coming up for air and can see the whole. Almost how he appreciatwed it when he was doing it.

Lotus Flow3r
I dont know what I was thinking when I first heard it but at the time I think I even thought Mplsound was 'better' now I hardly listen to that album.
Lotus is great all by itself...its like a bliss of guitar work and free thoughts without him being bothered by outside influences. Even weird tracks like 77 Bev Park, Wall Of Berlin and Back To The Lotus just work! Straight Jacket Funk Affair

I think it was what it was. I think PRINCE really did not care much on the "Promotion" tip, that was what labels get paid to do, he was more into it for the performance value of things. I think he really wanted to showcase 3RD EYE GIRL more than his record, which I would agree with too, as a live unit that was one of his best lineups, simple and direct. Took me back to Michael B and Sonny T days, but to me even better. I think PRINCE no matter what was still operating with the feeling that, I am PRINCE if you dig this cool if not then cool too, he was not taking on new fans. Dirty Mind - I was introduced to this album after hearing most of his 80s work through the mid 90s. At the time I was taken back by the starkness and the primary use of falsetto. Over time my tastes and my understanding of Prince matured and I now rank this Top 3 (though I still find Controversy to be an easier listen). Around the World in A Day - improves in stature to me every year. I feel like Prince truly loved this album. Batman - went from a C to B+ for me over time Diamonds and Pearls - parts of it have aged well Emancipation - what I originally loved about the album I no longer do - stuff like Joint 2 Joint/upbeat numbers... And parts that I kind of ignored have risen to prominence (disc 2) 3121 - loved upon release. Can't really approach it now Chaos and disorder - really grew on me Rave - big disappointment upon release. Latter half totally grew on me.

His early stuff - Prince, Dirry Mind, Controversy. Used to hate the falsetto, but ive grown to love those albums and they get regular play now. It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

The Gold Experience. I thought it was great when it came out, but it hasn't aged well. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Probably Rainbow Children. I fucking hated it the first time I heard it but once I stripped out the narration and a couple of clunky songs it grew on me.
