Unless we can stack their recent income against their pre-Prince death income then how can you assume that they aren't making more money now that he is dead?

W and L probably do make good money scoring tv...I will give you that. The rest of them I can't say. If someone can prove that W and L make less money now touring (and could possibly make through their album getting re-released recently) than they did as musicans for Tv, I would never question anything they ever did again where Prince was concerned.

Prince made these people's careers and most of them don't need to be on tour to make a living. Wendy & Lisa got the hollywood thing, Dr. Fink and Brown Mark seem to be set, NPG could easily find new gigs, Sheila E has been doing her own thing forever, Morris Day & The Time have been touring forever, Andre Cynome/Jesse Johnson/Mint Condition were doing fine before Prince's death.

So I'd say them performing Prince's music and keeping those songs alive is carrying on his legacy more than cynically exploiting the demand for Prince's music after his passing.

It's also worth keeping in mind that Jimi Hendrix was super exploited after his death but that exploitation enabled him to become a legend in the public's mind. The licensing, the relentless scraping of the barrel with his studio/live music, the neverending Experience Hendrix tours. All of it has kept him from fading from view.

that isn't exploiting

Are people that run charities who (do make some money from it) are they exploiting the cause?
Some are. Is Sheila E expointing the charities she does performances for? It bring more notoriety to her name as a result ie more attention / money. Is she expoiting it?

So if keeping the music alive mean livingly performing. How do people continue to live? Do they rent outdoor spaces where they don't have to pay venues?

Ecc 10:19 A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry;

but money answereth all things.

I Tim 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil:

Purplerabbithole, they performed prior to Prince's passing... @ First Avenue

And they would not get away from being the Revolution. When Wendy & Lisa + Susannah was recording and performing in the late 80s early 90s they were still known as 'the Revolution' members.

People cannot get away with that.
Can you tell me anyone who has done that
Dana Owens doesn't go by her real name, now that she is no longer a rapper, she still goes by Queen Latifah. Same with Ice T, Ice Cube etc etc etc Sheila E did not go back to Sheila Escovedo

FDeluxe will always been known as the Family. And there is no reason they should not. They are not 19 yrs old just starting out with the whole world ahead of them in this fickle society and industry.

If they are making money off the tours, they are exploiting Prince. If The Revolution decided to form a band when he was alive, call it another name not provided by his control freak butt, and write new songs...then exploitation wouldn't even be a word used in any description of their endeavor..

NOt to say they aren't also honoring him or their past with him or their youth or any number of other things in these recent tours...... People do things for multiple motives. BUt it tips a bit more in the direction of self-aggrandisement/exploiting when the songs are limited to a certain era and the rhetoric isn't balanced. The scale tips back and forth...the point is (and should be) to try to keep that scale balanced. When they are doing that, good for them.

well that is a truth. if someone is disputing something. kinda goes hand in hand.
But U should then go to a show and vibe with the fans. The stuff you are questioning

I doubt you will ever get an answer too, if you feel that group is exploiting Prince.
