Now having read the plot and script excerpts I totally understand why Prince rejected it and I'm glad he did. That was just terrible, even by The Simpsons' low bar standards. disbelief

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

I think it would've been a classic. Just like every other superstar guest episode. But alas, Prince's ego getting in the way of good decisions. But it's what it is.

Nixing this was the smartest thing Prince ever did.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

wonderboy

He should have done it. It shows that he is human, has a sense of humor, and does not get tripped up on his own ego.

It's all clean fun.

I don't need him to be on the Simpsons to know that he was human

Prince had a sense of humor about himself and everyone said he was very funny. My guess is he felt that it was not funny but more mocking and he was playing second fiddle to MJ something he did his whole carreer.

Well, of course he wasn't going to play a character first played by Michael Jackson. Duh.

No doubt, it could have worked, but alas, we'll never know. Would have been great to see my favorite musician on my favorite show.

If I'm addressing someone, I'll quote them - otherwise assume I'm talking about the subject of the thread in geenral.

It would've been awesome if BOTH Prince and MJ started in the same episode!

Prince never played second fiddle to Mj or any artist. Prince knew how to make number 1s by the time he released Prince. Prince couldve had a number 1 hit song for every album,he was a true artist who went where his musical aspirations took him. Mj constantly seeked out to make number 1s and was successful. I have great admiration for both artists.
