What is the most rare Prince unreleased track

Hey guys

What do you think is the most rare or unreleased Prince track you have ever heard or heard of? A good example would be When DOves Cry with the bassline, which i have heard exists, but I have never actually heard.

It was because I'm sure that this song will be leaked in the near future!

This was confirmed by The Revolution in a recent interview ....there is a full unreleased alternate instrumental version for WDC intended 1st for the film but no used and a longer unreleased version of WDC (not the bass version).....so 4 me these Trax are the Graal from The Vault!

It's got to be "Hey Hannigan (The Richard Dower Mix)". It comes on 64 floppy disks.

I have things rarer than "Wally", as do several other org members.

By definition the rarest unreleased Prince songs are the ones that nobody has.

this is true. so what would you say is the rarest track that you've heard? Or maybe an alternate version of a released song that isn't circulating?

Wally may be the one. I also think the 51 minute version of Billy, (where did you get those motherfucking sunglasses must be rare too) (On a bootleg I have called Dirty Mind Outtakes!)

.

Records, it is a recording of a song called 51 Hours by Diamond and Pearl on a record during the Australian tour of 1992.

.

Probably also the original Grand Central/Shampayne tapes from Moonsound of 7th street party, U're such a fox and others.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Did the full version of "hard to get" with Prince vocals ever surface? I know there's a 30 second sample circulating

There are few people with copies of some recordings, but let's hope over the coming decade a few of these hidden gems begin to surface in some form or another. Ideally, Prince's entire catalogue will be preserved and organised for future generations to appreciate beyond his mainstream success. He really was a genius ahead of his time and rare/unreleased songs help to pain that picture beyond the popular cultural context of his time.

Wally is basically a keyboard reworking of Billye. Wally where'd you get those glasses...they're the freakiest glasses I've seen. who actually knows what came first. I would assume he would have transposed the keys to the guitar, but it seems this time it's the other way around. Obviously he'd been toying with the concept for years

This. Plus that it's actually the biggest dissapointment in P-land since it's nothing more than a remake of Billy's Sunglasses.

PURPLEIZED3121

I think several that are due on the P.Rain soundtrack will be in this category.

As for the mentions of these:

51 Hours - utter garbage, loosly based on Gett Off remix from memory.

Wally - from the clips I heard is noting more than Billy's Sunglasses

Did anyone get to grab the the Questlove live Instagram feed from a few months ago...he was bleary eyed & playing some insanly rare clips that I had never heard of..live revolution reherasal stuff, unreleased tracks etc.

such a tease! Come on dude..TITLES! Serious question for you..with the ultra rare tracks you have would you put them in the same league as his greatest released stuff OR 'yes I can see why that stayed in the vault'!

I'd like to hear these. He was in good form in the latter years IMO.

.

One that springs to mind for me is the 'New Power Trio' version of Solo that Michael B once mentioned.

For all the people saying "Wally" is simply a re-working of "Billy's Sunglasses"...... You wouldn't say that if you'd heard the incredibly emotional second verse, or the guitar solo..... cool

There's this bit where he's talking about trying to pick up a girl and sings "and if I don't find somebody, somebody will find me".... the desperation and loneliness in this line breaks my heart.

Hey bro!

So Prince talked to me on Twitter about "Frida" in late 2015, I guess he was re-working it. I have a screengrab of the tweet he sent me about it, somewhere. He said the song was about the odd relationship between Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera.

Does that stack up with what you heard? Feel free to orgnote me cool

These 2013 outtakes hold the most appeal for me too, along with other later work.

I heard he recorded 200 or more songs with 3RDEYEGIRL. Only hope we get to hear them some day. We are the people who actually care and supported his later work afterall. But the Estate is an utter mess and the deal for the post-WB work has fallen through.

It's all the material we've never heard of that most interests me. At least though, if the Estate does dissolve into an utter mess, somebody does have these recordings.
