Prince/Paisley Park scent...

So I've been reading a lot about what Prince and Paisley Park smells like. I only wish I had the experience to know! Assuming he liked his 3121 fragrance and the Salish Winds "Garden of Eden" incense, think its safe to say he liked sandalwood, patchouli, and jasmine floras? They both carrry these scents.

I have my first Garden of Eden waiting in my mailbox today. I can't wait to see what the fuss is about...

I've always been interested in this too. I've read that he wore feminine fragrances but that he loved natural/wood scents as well. A lot of people who met him associate the scent of lavender with him; I guess he wore that scent a lot. We recently learned that he used to clean the local Whole Foods store out of essential oils on a regular basis because he enjoyed mixing and matching the oils to create soothing scents.

I've never smelled his signature fragrance. I wish I could have.

Today there are lots of scented candles around Paisley Park but I dont know if they are the real scented ones that he used. Some of the candles that are there now are not even real candles.

Now I don't know if PP truly smelled like Garden of Eden, but if it did....oh my. This is not a smoky smell, but more of a crisp, light, floral/earthy smell. Simply divine!! Very relaxing. I chose lavender as my free sample scent. The sticks smell heavenly in the bag. I can still pretend that this what Prince smelled at home. I got 3121 off of Amazon for fairly cheap. It is very floral. At first strong, but I would catch light whiffs throughout the day.

Update! I've burned all of my Garden of Eden incense and was just about to place another order. Wanting to get the right fragrance, I just emailed Salish Winds and asked which incense that he requested the most. Since P's incence fragrances are posted on her site, I thought she might not mind. Her reply "By far, it was the Garden of Eden Prince requested the most. He would give it as gifts to his friends as well. He is so very missed." Everything I've bought from there is top-notch. I plan on being a lifelong customer.

We were just talking about this in another thread. Someone had visited PP, and I asked them what it smelled like, LOL lol

.

Then, we started talking about how Prince smelled. I recall Apollonia saying that Prince smelled like Lavender, and he smelled as good as she imagined. lol

.

I always imagined Prince smelling incredibly sexy and Paisley Park smelling like a Purple Garden; ocean of violets in bloom.....LOL lol

There was a yankee candle in his video editing room - had a starfish on the front, Ocean Star scent and there was also an aerosol can of Thymes Lavender spray in there on the bookshelf.

Thanks for the update on this scent!
Was wondering about it after hearing PP smelled so good. So I searched this site and found an old thread from 2011 I believe about this fragrance. It used to go by another name from what I understand..."Play in the Sunshine"?
Still searching for a shop in Europe that sells "Garden of Eden" by Salish Winds Shipping from the US is 15,00, twice the price of the incense.

My wife and I frequented Paisley Park quite a bit over the last few years. Our favorite spot during the shows on the large soundstage was on the risers that were positioned on either side of the room. After one late night show, I remember we lifted one of the candles off of the table we sat at, thinking it might be something fairly fancy. It was a Target brand lavender candle. I have no idea if that's what he used elsewhere, but I found it endearing that Prince went (or, more likely, sent someone) on a Target run for candles. smile

When I visited Paisley Park last fall, we were in Studio B when we asked "what is that smell?" PP smelled of flowers and lavender and we wanted to know if that's what PP smelled like all the time. The tour guide said we smelled Airwick Lavender and Chamomile plug-ins! We laughed and inspected an outlet as you walk into the studio. Sure enough--there was a plug-in. She said he had them throughout PP and they continued to use them. 🤷🏽‍♀️ I now keep one or two in my home outlets.

So in April, at the end of our VIP Brunch tour, I noticed the employees misting the NPGMC room before we were let in. And the smell was familiar... but to make sure, my girlfriend asked one of the employees who went off to confirm and came back a while later and said "It's simply Lavender Essential oil. Prince kept PP smelling like it and even wore it himself, so we are continuing that now."

Sweet!! I leaned down to smell the candles in the atrium, the red ones on the floor stands -- and they were very basic too.... smelled like that very common apple cinnamon fragrance.

For those discussing the Garden of Eden incense -- it really is heavenly. The fragrance is very strong too, I imagine it would easily fill up a large space. It almost smoked me out of my house, I had to open a few windows to enjoy it. I would certainly suggest ordering some!

Good thread. I've copied some info on brand names to make purchases.

I think Prince used a lot of different brands and scents for himself and his home, but favored certain ones.

Here's a good article that talks specifically about his candies and what was done with them ultimately:

https://www.nytimes.com/2....html?_r=0

"Last August, when Angie Marchese became director of archives at Paisley Park, the rock star Prince’s studio and residence, one of the first things she did was to get rid of all the candles. Festooning nearly every room of the compound, they came in all sizes, shapes, colors and scents (including a few of Prince’s own aromatic blends).

“We replaced all the real candles with artificial candles,” Ms. Marchese said in an interview this week in an anteroom at the compound, as her team prepared for a series of events marking the one-year anniversary of Prince’s death on Friday. (Her crew cataloged and archived the originals.) “We still wanted the essence of the candles, and how they made the rooms feel, without the fire hazard,” she explained. “Prince can burn Paisley Park down, but I can’t.”"
