Beautiful...

Several months ago, from a link here on the Org, I saw the video where Brian Ach showed these pics and more, and describe his experience in detail in front of lecture hall full of students. It was very moving.

Thanx for revisiting this.

Cool story. It's been posted 2 or 3 times in the last year. I think the most recent was just a couple/three months ago.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

"Prince would critique the show, watching it closely, talking about what worked, what didn’t work, where someone messed up (he even mentioned that he should give fines for missing a beat etc.) and when a song was going really well, he would . . ."

Super duper article. Thank you.

In a recent interview, Lisa mentioned how even in the 80s, Prince would make the band rewatch the show, and give notes on it. She got some flack for calling him "boring" in those moments, but I have to agree.

We are all boring sometimes. A job isn't always fun. Not that Lisa is saying that a job should be always fun. Saying that the job isn't always glamorous and Prince wasn't always Mr. Excitement isn't really an insult as much as it is a reality. So it didn't really bother me. I am sure she can be boring too.

This nugget - "... the Paris show ended very late. Curfew laws meant that the stage lights in the stadium went out at 11pm, to prevent the concert from continuing. Prince, though, simply continued to play in the dark. They eventually turned the lights back on. .."

Well, of course he did!

-/That is why he was the band leader. Someone has to be in charge.
