I love this song (and the album) but I can not figure out what it's about. I have thought it was about God, sex, aliens, the music muse, his baby, etc. Nothing seems right and maybe that's the point.

Any thoughts?

ITs God, I believe. But maybe God can manifest itself/himself in his baby, sex, his music, etc.

Interesting--didn't know there was an album. According to Princevault, the only other known song was a cover of Twisted, written "as an instrumental by Wardell Gray in 1949, before having lyrics added by Scottish jazz singer Annie Ross in 1952." Apparently, P ditched the album to work on Roadhouse Garden and Rave Unto The Joy Fantastic.

I always thought of it meaning his name / Prince.

Way back. I heard that it was about his son who had deformaties. Those babies are "Strangely beautiful".. I know.

It's about inner enlightenment, about experiencing the Divine. It's about God. "If you count the times He took all the blame" - every time something goes wrong in our life (for those that are religous) God usually gets the blame. In eastern teachings they say that life is a cosmic play, it's a game we play to trick ourselves into believing we are separate from God and each other. "In the darkness we must look 4 the way," - closing your eyes to meditate, but it could also be that we live in darkness when we focus upon the mundane. "Words so strange that only the mind can say" - In meditation, there is no language. It is an experience and once you try to define that experience with language, you lose the experience. "Dive inside your soul if U wanna know, the light inside the darkness 4ever glows, the son is like the diamond inside the coal" - again, meditate, dive within yourself, the light is always there. The Son is Christ Consciousness, within the coal, you.

I've always loved this song. It's incredibly deep and the feeling it evokes is unlike anything else.

I have seen the references to the unreleased album on PV, but to be honest I'm doubtful of its real existence, simply also as projected.
