Just reading another thread about him and Mayte splitting and someone suggested he wasn't faithful. I have to say that some of his women do seem to "overlap" with other relationships. Can anyone help me understand more about this????

In a way I think he does have a problem staying faithful.
With the mayte situation I think it started with
the death of their baby. It seeems that couples
that suffer that kind of tragady never seem to bounce back
to what they had. So I think that started a play where
maybe Prince and Mayte needed some time apart from one another so they both started seeing ither people.
But since Prince is a celebrity it was more publicised
on his end than hers. (If you remember the was dating a dancer he met in Vegas and she also appeared in the "Greatest Romance" video. But somewhere along the lines they probably felt that holding on to that kind of relationship was useless which resulted in their final divorce on 2000. Even before Prince married Mayte (when they were dating) he was still dating other women.

So in short it seems that Prince was only faithful in the beginning of the marriage. After the personal tragady all bets were off.

i can't imagine him being too faithful, but then again who knows? maybe now that he's getting older he's changed. i hope so....i think he'll be happier if he does stay faithful. when ya truly love someone, it's amazing!

VERY SEXY...even trc is sexy. i guess he has to have a woman that understands this. now, i DO think prince expects the woman to be faithful however. he's very protective and possessive. _____ bottom line; LOVE PRINCE AS HE IS! and u have to love him VERY MUCH to accept these conditions of the heart...it's not for everyone. imo, the young women will have a harder time accepting this. like manuella. i wonder if she understands this lifestyle and can accept it. it's probobly hard!

I also thought i'd add that prince has been linked to alot of women. however, you'd think a few of them would talk about their relationship with him. i cant believe he gag orders them that good! so there poses the question that MAYBE he really didnt have ALL the women people say he did. he very well may not have. someone would have had to write a book by now, or been on a talk show etc. with their story. it's a thought & its strange as hell, IMO.

for ALL of your adult life, you've been told that you're a musical genius, you make great music, you're SO talented, good looking, etc.

ADD TO THAT the "typical" "rock n roll lifestyle" for the average male singer/musician: HUNDREDS of attractive, screaming, often fanatical females, many of whom WOULD HAVE SEX WITH OTHER MEN JUST FOR THE POSSIBILITY to have sex with you, easy access to drugs & alcohol, both of which accelerate the, uh, process..
(not that P was ever BIG on either)

add to that the, well, (mostly FORMER) fascination with sex..
as it often used to manifest itself in his music

add still the "jilted lover" image he often portrays himself as in most of his songs with a "betrayal" theme to them.. that can be a convenient excuse to say.. "well, you cheated on me so why shouldn't I cheat on you?"

plus, there are, sorry to say it, probably more than 1 or 2 women out there in the world who'd want to be with him just for his money &/or status.. knowing that a woman only wants you for such superficial things engenders little trust or confidence- another springboard excuse for cheating..

there's probably a few other lesser factors missing, but the above listed.. doesn't really engender fidelity does it?


Poor, young, NAIVE Mayte: she was about what, HALF his age when she met him.. BARELY legal when they "married"..

men don't marry women 20+ years younger than they are because they want an "equal" relationship.
(neither do most women, for that matter..)

in this case, Mayte shouldn't have had ANY illusions about who she was "marrying." If he had only wanted to, Prince could go off for hours, days, even weeks & not have to explain ONE minute of ANY of it to Mayte. HOW could she possibly "reprimand" him? WHAT could she POSSIBLY say to him?????

Prince has never been known for having strong "people skills".. that type of personality trait often lends itself to fidelity, because a person like that only knows how to relate to him/herself. People who are most often faithful in relationships have considerable "people skills" because they're good at understanding others & putting others' well-being before their own.

Like I said, he's CAPABLE of being faithful.. maybe his friend Larry Graham can be a "positive influence" on P in that way too.. love him or hate him, Larry's been married for what- longer than Prince has been in the business. (I give Larry props for that- NO SMALL FEAT.) If Larry can bring Prince into JW, let's see him influence P to get with- & STAY with- only ONE woman..

MAYBE if P met "the right woman" (she'd probably still be at least 20 years younger) MAYBE he'd want to "settle down".. but, like they say, the older we get, the more we SETTLE into our habits- good & bad.

Dont body can be a "faithful lover" until they fall in love. And for one, ex wife and now they say "new wife" are only in there 20's. Prince is 40 years old and maybe one day he will meet a woman maybe a little closer to his age and really fall in love. Then he will be faithful. I Mean if you look at the true successers any where from actor to recording artists. They have wifes around the same age and the relationship last a long time if not forever. Older woman have more wisdom and patience and most older men who are successful do take a wifes opinion and advice. One day, hopefully he will realize this.

There's always lots of opportunities out there for people in the entertainment business and maybe if that's what you like, it can be a "candy store" but after a while you get tired of all that stuff and you seek out something with more substance he's been in the spotlight for so long he's been there done that and personally I think he want's a lot more than one night or a few months with someone and eventhough I'm crazy for his music I'll be happy to hear that he's starting a family and that he's settled down, as for recording and the studio thing take it from me who knows personally you could never try to stop that it's in there blood.
