Best "all-Prince" songs???? Prince alone in the studio songs, that is???

I am talking about songs that everyone agrees are at least 95% Prince (I don't count background vocals) . Nothing that might have come from a jam session (either hinted at or directly stated by bandmates), nothing that is a variation of another song, nothing that was co-written, or has a keyboard line that is obviously Lisa, in other words, Prince living up to his reputation as a wunderkid" virtually alone in a studio coming up with jams and playing all the parts)..

PLease list...

Here are some my mine ( I hope these are 'all-Prince")

Darling Nikki

When Doves Cry

Beautiful ONes

Something in the Water

Delirious

sign of the times (the song)

Dorothy Parker (version minus clare and Eric)

ComeBack

strange Way of Saying I love you

Dionne

Black Sweat

Illusion Coma pimp and circumstance

Don't Play Me

The Truth

Tamborine

I would say Controversy and Erotic City but anything too funky I am worried people will claim it came indirectly from a jam session.

It was the first that came to my mind, so I left it with that. 1999 is almost all him solo and is one of his best records.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Kiss is Prince, Mazarati and Mark Brown's collaboration. According to some on this website, it is barely Prince at all.

"Prince Alone in the Studio" by Smog, obviously. Sorry, I just love that song, and I'm listening to it right now.

As to the real question--I really don't know. Look, I know that people have varying claims to assorted tracks, and varying levels of involvement in recording--I just can't keep up with it, and I don't think it really should matter. On nearly every track he's far and away the dominant force, more so than almost any other performer--even when the record features others. Sure, he pulls from things he hears in rehearsals and jams--all writers do. It's made more of with Prince because there's the standard of his doing the lion's share on his own. If it came out under Prince's name, even if someone else is playing a few parts, it's still 95% him in nearly every instance. There's playing what he would have played or what he demands they play, with relatively few exceptions.

But When Doves Cry and The Beautiful Ones are pretty much perfect, and they're just him. But honestly, pick your favorite tracks--most of them will probably fit.

I know what you meant. It's listed as Prince performing on it, not the Revolution.

I mean one person (yourself) reacting to my thread. Me and Paulludvig were hoping for other posters to come on board. You were the first one. We both have been over on the associates page debating about credit and prince contributions with oldfriends4sale.

Adorecream

Adore (This is Prince with special guest stars, Prince, Prince, Prince and Prince on backing vocals), okay the horn ain't him, but the rest is Prince. Seriously 19 Prince backing tracks and one tape of Eric or Matt adding horns = 95% Prince, 5% Eric or Matt.

.

Do Me Baby - Unless you count the candles as other arists. Soft core studio porn at its best.

.

Dirty Mind album - Prince locked in a studio recording what comes to mind (Okay the Fink synth solos make up 5% at most).

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Yeah, dang it. I got a little carried away and my mind started thinking only Prince vocals...? Oops. I'll be quiet now.
