On the surface Alphabet Street seems all innocent and maybe he's referring to the street naming used in Minneapolis--the streets are generally in alphabetical order--one set is a list of states. But really, Prince's "dirty" mind came up with song to talk about oral sex....he's going to spell out the alphabet on her nether regions starting with A and keep going until T(ennessee).

P gave an interview back in the day on Memphis radio, and he mentioned that Tennessee had a special place in his heart, given the sold out crowd that was there for his Purple Rain and other tours.

ya, sam kinison had a bit about that. Oddly, i never thought of alphabet street that way although it's fairly obvious, it was just never a favorite tune of mine although I loved the extended version. Also, sometimes, I didn't even pay attention to the lyrics as much as the music.
