OMG!! I would love to read this article! I totally zone out when listening to any of his songs! But, listening to "Do Me Baby" in it's entirity makes me want to have sex for DAYS!!!

I don't think he was having sex in the studio. The records in books suggest he had the studios covered in candles and pink swathes of fabric when recorded it and lay on the floor shrieking into a microphone.

I doubt any of this is true, the candles would have dripped wax over the mixing boards and messed up the process. My guess is Prince was singing from recent experiences. Outside of music I am sure Prince was having a lot of sex in 1981. As much as a horny toad he was, Prince was way to professional, especially in the early days to be taking girls in a studio booth to have sex with and I doubt he would be masturbating, except between takes.

Despite this, Do Me Baby is a supreme song, I really love the screams and just the feel of the lyrics. He sings it with such conviction of a man in pure lust, he can not control his inhibitions any more and he senses his partner feels the same. Nothing else is on their mind. He conveys the mood so well, it is hard to believe that he was NOT doing it in the studio. This is pretty steamy stuff and you need a shower afterwards, also because you are so cold

It was the first of many satisfying sex ballads, that Prince became famous for. The next one for me was International Lover, where Do Me Baby moves on to an airplane. I also love When 2R in love, I love u in me, Insatiable, Scandalous and Pheromone. All par excellence sex ballads.

For me, it is my favorite of his highly explicit songs. No innuendo here . It really made Orgasm unnecessary....so much better with this one.

Absolutely amazing song. I love the sheer raw passion and the ecstatic screams! I love the real sense of passion and feeling in his earlier work in songs such as these, it felt like he really felt and expressed all the emotions then, which was sadly lacking in his later work where it felt more like he was going through the motions.

The Tupac song To Live And Die In L.A sampled Do Me Baby,but its uncredited.

Other Prince songs sampled in Tupac songs are Darling Nikki,777 9311 and Pop Life.

Do Me Baby sounds real, even though it would have sounded forced if anyone else tried to copy him. As much as I enjoy International Lover for entertainment purposes, it sounds more like he is trying to top Do Me baby with some goofy imagery. His lyrical metaphors are better on Little Red Corvette. Do Me Baby might be a bit literal. But it's still an amazing song.
