We Can F#%& is a Purple Rain Era Outtake

According to The Vault initial tracking took place
on Dec 31st, 1983, around the same time as Erotic City,
She's Always In My Hair, etc.

Id'like to know the evolution of the basic Trax SAIMH back end 83 and his final form when it was released in 85 ?

Well, the opening and closing parts (of SAIMH) use a DX7 4-B Complex Sound and Effects soundbank ('Gotcha' patch) cartridge that wasn't available until sometime in the latter part of 1984.

.

I'm also going to restate my belief that WCF was initially tracked earlier in 1983 than NYE'84, despite what PV indicates.

That's a great question. Another Lonely Christmas

Oh come on, that question answers itself.

Most all of Around The World In A Day was recorded on the Purple Rain Tour, as was Romance 1600. Should all those songs be tacked onto the PR Deluxe? Of course, not. We know "Raspberry Beret" and "Baby I'm A Star" well predate PR recording, too. SAIMH doesn't belong on PR.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I'd love to have a version of Dez Dickerson's Modernaire, but I'm not sure what album it should be released on if not on the Deluxe Purple Rain album.

Grits and gravy, cheese eggs and jam...
Butterscotch clouds, a tangerine and a side order of ham.

Duh.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

It was also released as a 12" with new mixes just under a decade ago.

The Retrospective is a great set to have, it's a shame an album never came out in 1985/6 the material on there has a lot of commercial potential. The product itself is a bit shabby, but the music is great.
