The Rock became Let's Work: The Origin of the Classic

So supposedly there was a brief fance craze in the early 1980s called THE ROCK and

Prince whipped up overnight a dance track inspired by this craze titled THE ROCK but Warner Bros.

wouldn't allow him to release it (his first real disagreement w/ the label) and had to re-record he track as LET'S WORK a few months later.

Question #1: Just what is the dance and what does it look like????

Question #2: Has anyone heard the original version of LET'S WORK as THE ROCK???? Is it different apart from lyrics???

Perhaps it looks like the dance he usually does when performs this song.

From Princevault: "The track was originally recorded as Let's Rock (named after a dance called "The Rock" Prince had seen in clubs during the summer of 1981), and Prince wanted to release it as a single immediately after recording. Warner Bros. declined, and while Prince liked the track, he felt it needed to be renamed when released to avoid it seeming dated."

Y'all realize that "Rock With You" by MJ is about the same dance, right? It's not about fuckin', it's about dancing, and "the rock" was a popular (albeit boring) dance at the time.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Google doesn't seem to know anything about it. I don't remember that dance at all.
