I think Prince songs are near impossible to cover as they are always an initation of Prince and never original - but I'm refering to tracks where Prince is the original perfomer. . In contrast, U2 cover versions have actually proven to be rather good and very successful. I also think George Michael is near impossible to cover as well. .

There are few Prince covers I really like, because IMHO few add any value to the original. . One that particularly pleased me is the 7Hurtz/Peaches/Feist cover of Sexy Dancer that appeared on that covers compilation circa 2001, they really turned it into a nice electronic dance number with lots of humor in the lyrics. . There's one case, and a single one, where I like the cover better than the original: Nero's Electric Intercourse (it's on YT). Being from 2012, it's actually a cover of the August 83 rehearsal/live version but I think it took all that was good in it and made it the perfect studio version it could have been, and much more emotional and dynamic than the PR Deluxe version IMHO. .
