Hands my FAV era/album/tour of Prince. So much class, showmanship, funk, and creativity in such a small period of time from 85-86. The whole feel seems so radically different from everything he did before, from his look to the music to even the way he performed. Like he was a whole different character. He was expanding as an entertainer and musician.
The Warm Up gig (3/3/86) is one of my fav First Avenue P shows along with the 1984 birthday show. Thanks for all of your "era" threads. They're a lot of fun to go through. Despite everything, no one can dictate who you are to other people - 1958-2016

I know he & Sheila E(Romance 1600) have a song called Yellow, but Prince should have done a little of that one on the tour when he wore yellow. Love the color

The Yellow suit cover to Anotehrloverholeinyohead single remians my fave of all time....could he look more cooler? This tour..lawdy....where do you begin?! He barely touched the guitar, he became a hyper cool version of James Brown..the ultimate band leader with a fierce funky band. The radical change in sound & image in such a short time span from Purple Rain 2 years earlier frankly beggars belief.

Same here HypnoBlue, 85-86 was an explosion of mass creativity. And so many other songs we don't even know about yet.
He was a combination of James Brown & Charlie Chapman roled into one
Yes, 3 different projects + add in there the Coco Boys:Mickie Free (battle of the bands thing he was doing) vs Mazarati and a little film about it
it's hard to go through this stuff, but it does make me smile
