Prince and fender strat Prince played a lot of diffrent brands of guitars. many people associate him with hohner and cloud guitars but in my opinion he sounded the best when he played those strats with whammy bars.it took his playing to another level .some guy made a utub comilation of Princes best guitar solos called Prince best guitar player since Hendrix and there is a video of Prince playing Shhh on a golden strat ,i think its from Paris 2011.man he took his guitar playing somewhere else and i love what he did with his whammy bar.its not true that he sacrifised his finger vibrato,he was still using both .vox was a step back after amazing job with floyd rose strats.

Did Prince ever say why he switched to Vox guitars with 3EG? Paisley Park is in your heart

There's was an interview with him in Rolling Stone where it said in the text that some of James Brown's guitarists played guitars of the Vox brand (they had an endorsement deal back in the '60s) - so we can guess this connection may have appealed to Prince if he felt compelled mention it to an interviewer. Could be the guitar just caught his eye, so he tried it out and decided he liked it. Apparently the HDC-77 is very ergonomically designed, and I read some absolutely fantastic reviews when they first came out.
