Are you streaming P's music?

Are you streaming his music on TIDAL, Spotify or Apple Music?

Or just playing your old records?

Are you a vinyl/cd kind of listener?

lol

.
CDs, MP3s, DVDs. iPods in cars, Sirius/XM, Comcast TV, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, don't need any more.
I own what I listen to.
I'm not always in range of a cell tower. Out here in the wild west, you can drive half a day and not be able to stream.
.
We got rid of landlines, though.

I have and love all my vinyl. Never play them though. CDs too. Never play them either. Technology moves very quickly. Formats change quickly too but I still love my vinyl most. Mostly as awesome looking collectibles.

But for convenience, nothing beats streaming.

I like using Spotify to hear P's music in relation with other music from the era. My iTunes/CD library is not nearly comprehensive enough (besides P).

Burned all my cds to Mp3 by 2003,so whatever is not on vinyl I play Mp3.

I haven't owned a record player since forever. And today I was cleaning up my home office and threw away perfectly good blue ray players and CD players I had laying around. Always hated that format.
Threw away Zip drives, internet telephone systems and all sorts of other outdated garbage.

It accumulates fast. Throw it away and keep moving forward.

It's the same with me--and I live in New York City! Try streaming when you're stuck in a subway tunnel. lol

So streaming is useless to me. My Prince music is all vinyl and CDs (or ripped digital files from the CDs).

CDs ripped into iTunes for Symbol onwards. Prior to that I did have cassettes but looked for and found the vinyl on eBay about 5 years - all quite reasonable too, I already had parade and atwiad on vinyl. Converted this to digital and again, into iTunes so I can take with me.

I just don't get streaming. If you own a thing you own it - why rent it and not actually have it. And. Who has infinite data or guaranteed connection anyway when you're out and about. No. Keep streaming for Netflix etc. Not music.

I joined Tidal specifically to stream Prince. Unfortunately my broke ass hasn't had a computer for over a year so even though I own most of his cds I can't exactly listen to them. Without streaming I would just be stuck with downloading songs from the internet and that doesn't help your phone health to say the least!
.
I enjoy the Tidal experience, I wish they would put Emancipation (please come back) Crystal Ball, 3121 etc back up. But for what it's worth, it's worth the $10 a month!

Spotify.

Man, it sounds awesome. I'm finding I love songs that I previously felt "meh" about. Space, Stare, Breakfast Can Wait.

I usually listen to CDs on my laptop or CDs ripped to iTunes, and both formats in my car. None of it sounds as great as Spotify. (I also need to learn more about formats. Re-ripping might be in order.) neutral
And the MUSIC continues...forever...

It's true. Spotify can barely make money. Apple is subsidizing itself. And Tidal has lost how many top personnel in that last couple of months? Not being able to pay debts owed.

Yes, it's been obvious for a while now. I feel for them, but it's a lost lost cause.Hopefully, someone is foolish enough to buy them out.

Yes, I do. But that's what I do everyday anyway with my ripped CDs. So again, I have no use for streaming.

I have vinyl and cds which I listen to sometimes (I had a few cassettes, but I was stupid enough to through them away some years ago. Makes me mad when I remember that).

I have them on my laptop, on my cellphone and on external hd.

What's wrong with streaming anyway? Sure, I have all the CD's. And I have them all ripped into mp3's onto a external hard drive for portability and storage. But not everyone has cell phones with maximum storage, or iPods with the same. Streaming allows for me to access content remotely without having to worry about storage capacity and whatnot. So again I ask...why such pushback with streaming?

Because some people like to think of themselves as "true fans" and anyone who experiences P's music differently is a lesser fan? Honestly I do think there is a music snob factor to it all. I myself have so much P on my iPod that I have no need to stream however as long as people can get personal enjoyment out of his music to me it doesn't matter how you get to that point

That's a poor excuse of a fan and not a real one because one should already have all of his music already on cd and then downloaded etc

Streaming after that but not as the only way or main way... should be having the music already regardless of Spotify etc

I use Spotify a lot despite having his entire catalogue on mp3 (or similar) on my phone, not to mention cd and vinyl outside of that.

FFS me.

Ok that's different and what I explained. You're a true fan, I don't know about some of these other jokers though

Can't tell if you are being serious or not, but if you are serious - nice True Scottsman fallacy ya got there. A fan is a fan, I am not snobbish enough to tell people what they have to do in order to be a "real" fan lol that ain't how I roll
