Other than the ejactucasters I don't know if and when Prince used the other copies of the Hohner. There's another post here where we've gone over the Hohner guitar and mention the replicas or copies. All very mysterious

I imagine there was a ton of stuff Prince had made that he didn't use. Clothes, instruments etc.

I got two sides... and they're both friends.

i just wondered about that in the george lopez thread, george said the hohner he had since he was a kid sustained him through the years, i found it hard to believe. so, indeed, he had many of the same.

Wrong.
He bought his first Hohner approx. at the end of 1979 (he was 21, so not a kid). He bought another one soon after that, in early 1980. He might have had a third original one too but I've yet to see proof of that.

He has played these two regularly until the mid-80's, after that resorting to mostly playing his favourite one that he kept playing right until the very end.

I've never seen him (or a photo of him) playing any of the copies he had. (Apart from using the Ejacucaster as a prop.)

why would a signed artist buy a guitar from a drugstore? are you sure? Springsteen likewise has used the same guitar forever, not being a guitarist it seems it wouldn't be easy using something for 40 years, I play keyboards, I guess a piano would last forever but not no keyboard.

It was probably like Trigger's Broom, i.e. he had the same guitar for 40 years but it had 3 new necks, 4 new bodies etc.

Prince probably used the purple telecaster with the flowers in the videoclip for the song America.

Oh sure, he played it in concert too. When I said I never saw him playing any of the copies I only meant the MadCat-copies.
