Oh, cool, sorry about that. Long week of weird-ass-ness. And yeah, about that U2 thing. Remember that damn Songs of Innocence album that was on everyone's iPod whether they wanted it or not? Mine actually broke shortly after that. lol I imagine myself inside your bedroom; oh, I imagine myself in your sky.

I know this is a site for fans, but I really wish sometimes fans would stop being so emotional and use a little logic. The idea that WB went into Prince's vault and just picked what they wanted to put on this release, and either deliberately or foolishly left out certain things is ridiculous. While we may not know the specific contents of Prince's 2014 contract with them we do know he was involved in this release, so we can safely assume HE provided the material for it. All of the "he wouldn't give them this song or that song because he was JW, etc leaves out the fact that he got something in return: his masters, something he'd wanted for years. WB does not have access to the PP vaults. Prince only died a year ago and his estate still isn't settled. One year may seem like an eternity for fans but for business, dealing with an estate his size, with no will, it's nothing. Could Warner have asked for this stuff before he died? Sure. Hell, they may have. Or maybe they felt that, considering even super fans hold the full Computer Blue well above the slightly extended Darling Nikki, that's what we want.
All I'm trying to say is there are a lot of behind the scenes elements to situations like this. And with someone as notoriously stubborn about their older material as Prince we're lucky we're even getting this. Once his estate is completely settled (probably another year at least) we'll probably get everything they think they can monetize. But right now that's not only impossible but silly to think it is possible. [Edited 5/1/17 5:02am] | |
