iTunes is a laggy piece of crap software (on Windows at least, I hear it's better on Mac but I don't have one so haven't experienced it) but once you've bought the song in the store you can just download it, find it in Windows Explorer and then use something else to listen to.

My home desktop machine is Windows 10, my work machine is a Macbook Pro. Honestly, iTunes isn't much better on a Mac. Still a bloated laggy mess. Them forcing Apple Music inside it hasn't helped matters.

Does anyone know what "Mastered for iTunes" means?

Well I'll be damned. That is NOT what I would have expected the studio version of Electric Intercourse to sound like. It's so different, yet beautiful in it's own way.

It finally puts to bed the question of whether he should have put Electric Intercourse in place of The Beautiful One. The answer is... HELL NO! The Beautiful Ones is superior in almost every conceivable way compared to this.

... but the fact that we have "Electric Intercourse (Studio Version)" to me implies that in one of the 2 live CDS in the set there is also one "Electric Intercourse (Live Version)".

True, I have been using iTunes since I think around 2005 and honestly I have never had a single issue with getting it to run how I want it to run and how I want it to look

OK, just listened to the full thing on Spotify. Loved it. I would sound a bit 'raw' had this version made PR. My guess is he knew it was going to be replaced before the final mix.

Also suprised the drum is a 1,2, rather than a 1, 3,4 that he typically puts on tracks like these.

I wonder if its possible Prince had this studio version laying around but the actual version that was going to be on Purple Rain was a version like the other First Avenue tracks where there were overdubs and edits added to that version? I am curious because there were heavy rumors of that being the case and as far as I know a full studio version wasn't even something we knew existed right?

My words exactly haha this is a great version of the song. It took me aback at first because its so different than the live version but I love Prince's high range in this vocally, it knocks it out of the park. Especially with headphones its a trip
