It's pretty insane that this has managed to get this far without a new press release that specified the release date and announced the tracklist officially. A dedicated website to capture email addresses for a mailing list wouldn't have hurt, either. Something... Anything!
If they wanted to do Beyonce style guerrila tactics they should have just dropped the full digital release out of nowhere, with the physical to follow.
I don't doubt that they'll do some promotion, but letting this go live without officially announcing any info and then just waiting for us to find it, is pretty bizarre.
Not bizarre more like being cheap. I think they know Prince has a loyat fanbase and do not feel they need to spead a lot of money promoting the product. Prince sold 7.7 millions songs last year. More than anyone WB knows they can make a fourtune without having to spend much money. |

They're probably waiting until Friday American time for the press release. iTunes updates at 11 PM in each time zone, and it's currently 1AM Friday in India. Official announcement will most likely come tomorrow. "Like the drummer said, you got to die." |

exactly. if only for monetary reasons i would like to know the details of the physical release compared to the digital one etc etc.
if the itunes store updates tonight at 11 MP in europe and i'll be able to pre-order this one, it will be hard not to do so. but since the dvd's are not part of this pre-order, i feel like i'll be better off waiting for an anouncement or anything from warners to see which package is the most complete one and buy that, either physical or download.
it's just plain shitty that they don't release any official information at this point.

When looking at the Japan iTunes to (unsuccessfully) hear a snip of EI, I saw this...
https://itunes.apple.com/jp/album/live-at-syracuse-30-mar-85-remastered/id1178372340?l=en
Remastered Syracuse 1985 concert. Looks official. Is this new? First I heard of it.
Edit...
This too...
https://itunes.apple.com/jp/album/live-at-the-omni-atlanta-ga-usa-4-jan-1985-remastered/id1195883496?l=en
Cover art looks like its part of the Deluxe Purple Rain. I'm very sad if this means that there is no First Ave benefit concert debut of PR material (!!!)

I work for a digital agency that works closely with labels and artists. Digital services routinely spoil announce plans because of the way their automated updates work, but its a risk you have to take if you want the first single available when the press release goes out.
I guarantee there will be a blast tomorrow to formally announce. [Edited 4/27/17 13:10pm] |

They've slightly rotated the main photo on the new artwork counterclockwise – don't know why they felt the need to change it... I hate it when record companies mess up the artwork for rereleases. The smoke behind the bike is now darker too to make Prince stand out more.
The now silver background behind the flowers is OK to make the Extended Edition slightly different, but why did they have to mess with the main photo?... |

the physical package may include an audio cd for one of the two concerts? if one of those two is an unreleased show, that would technically also be an album of unreleased music.

Yeah, I suspected the studio would be a shocker but sure it will grow on me.
It was great when he played it at the Birmingham show and you could hear gasps from the hardcore

I'm interested in the sound quality. When I saw the track list, I had a feeling that the unreleased material may end up the same quality as Moonbeam Levels.
I put this down to the fact that the track listings read like a bootleg list, rather than how Prince might describe them. e.g., why does Electric Intercourse need "Studio Version" as a sub title, when its never been released?
And what are the chances that Computer Blue would be listed as 'hallway version' rather than 'long version', 'full version' or simply 'unreleased version'?
Hmmm... . |

the tracklist reads like it's specifically geared toward hardcore fans
i've already given up on soundquality for now and figured that in a few years, once the estate is settled and people go into the actual vault to curate new releases from the actual tapes in there, we'll have to make do with whatever warners had knocking about in a drawer somewhere.

Frst off nice job Militant!
The studio version is a bit more uptempo and took a minute to adjust too...I think I prefer the more slowed down blues version we've all come to know. However, I cant wait to hear the entire thing
Regardless it makes for an awesome birthday present! Thanks P - as always....
