Hey everyone, Ive been in contact sifi outside of the org after messaging them and they have let me know there will infact be an additional harcore version centred release with G-Spot, Wednesday, etc, (hasn't given me full info) Additionally there maybe a release of movie outtakes (not clear). An outtake called Amnesia, Jailbait was also mentioned as part of something unlisted from one of the 100 tracks Magnoli was claimed to be given

So u think that 17 days & Erotic City( which were not in Purple Rain ) should be on there as opposed 2 songs that were actually in the film???!!! Bullshit.
17 Days and Erotic City were Purple Rain b-sides. This a release of the album, not the movie. |

Exclusives screw fans that don't have access to the specific store.
Also, different exclusives at different stores (say 17 Days only at best buy AND Wednesday only Target) is just rude and disrepectful to collectors. They know some fans will buy multiple versions and are willing to gouge. Bad idea in an age where it's not hard to buy one version and pirate the others. As physical media becomes more and more a niche market the fans who collect should be catered to if for no other reason but to keep them. Gouging tricks would alienate many and encourage piracy.

While not exactly concrete info, this certainly is intriguing. By "additional hardcore version", do you mean "hardcore"in terms of content or "hardcore" in terms of something for hardcore fans/historians?
It would certainly be a dream come true to see additional footage from PR. I hope Sifi is right on this one. |

Seems unlikely.
If this were the case, those songs would be registered now. They are not.
Unless Warners are planning ANOTHER Purple Rain Deluxe release later on in the year, which would be the quickest way to piss the entire fanbase off by making us buy the same release twice in one year.
I know who Sifi is, he's a Dutch fan, but unless he can prove his link to WB, I remain sceptical.

It would be such a smart-less and illogical decision to shot concerts only on video, even in 1985; especially from a firm/ artist that revolutionized the music industry by being #1 in album, radio, singles and theaters at the same time. I have hard time to actually believe that.
.
Based on what? Go on, list all of those concerts that were filmed on film and not on video. Doing things on film was back then a fuckload harder than video, and more expensive. Sheesh, Prince filmed SOTT on film and then had close to zero workable footage and ended up reshooting a phoney concert at PP.
Based on the fact that even in the 60's, there were concerts shot on film, that were released later on blu ray. From artists that sold way less than Prince with Purple Rain. |

This sounds way to good to be true. I missed sifi's message of the First Avenue clip of Let's go crazy. Was it audio only or also video? I know that some elite traders have a copy of the mobile truck soundboard tapes could it be just a sample of that? There was a radio tribute show last year where Purple Rain was played complete from these tapes. |

I know this isn't comfirmation, but the Japanese version doesn't have any bonus tracks. That's often a good indication that there won't be any store-specific exclusives. That seems to be becoming less common anyway. I may be wrong but I can't think of any recent Target, Walmart, Best Buy exclusives.
Also, if you look at discs 2 and 3, there really isn't any room for any other tracks given that a CD is potentially 80 minutes long. Those discs seem to be full. It could fit at the end of the remastered album, but it'd be weird to stick one track at the end of the original 9 tracks.
Not saying we shouldn't dream of getting everything we want from this project, but at this point I'm excited for what I know is coming. It's not perfect, but it's pretty exciting all the same. |

If some folks have a high quality soundboard of First Ave 1983, it's possible that clip was just the existing footage synced to the soundboard audio. The video footage itself didn't seem drastically better than what is already circulating, did it? |

Rodserling - you cannot compare format/technology between the 60s and the 80s. Video was in a different league in the 80s compared to the 60s!
Syracuse was shot on video (pro video format, likely either Betacam or U-Matic). You can tell that simply by looking at it. Even shooting on 16mm would have had a "film feel" to it. 'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything. |
