Don't remember if it was from a press release, rumour, or if somebody here just pulled it out of their ass... but, pretty sure that's how it was being described at one point.
That said, so many different things have been said and so much has been wrong, so, whatevs...
I'm sure it was a Warner press release which stated there would be two albums of unreleased music.
Here's the Rolling Stone article about it : http://www.rollingstone.c...ic-w466431
[Edited 4/28/17 7:44am]
Well, that was the only “source” that I ever saw. A case of lazy, inaccurate reporting and Chinese Whispers?

Really pleased to finally be able to pre order this set.
I just hope Sifi is wrong and Our Destiny does have a Prince vocal.
Electric Intercourse is great, I'm kind of pleased how it differs from the live version, not sure which I prefer but it's great to have both. |

Six tracks that have never been released or distributed in the collector or bootleg community include: “Possessed” – the ’83 Prince solo version, never heard before; “Electric Intercourse”- the studio version not known to exist before it was discovered at Paisley Park; “Father’s Song” – a full, five plus minute version that prior to this fans could only find a minute and half snippet of in the movie; “We Can Fuck” – a track that has never circulated as the full, 10 minute version with these lyrics; and “Katrina’s Paper Dolls” – a finished master of the song, which has previously only circulated as a demo. Additionally, all of the material is taken from the source and mastered by Bernie Grundman, the mastering engineer who worked on the original album.
so what are we to make of that? before it was discovered at paisley park?
that completely contradicts prince handing them this material, as i think we can be pretty sure that prince didn't need to discover that he'd recorded a studio version of Electric Intercourse
they also seem to have a pretty good knowledge about what is and is not circulating among collectors. even an average org visitor probably doesn't know exactly the differences between what versions of Possessed are out there in the small trade circle, or how many versions of Katrina etc.
it's also pretty fcking coincidental that Velvet Kitty Cat of all songs leaked last year, in good quality. and that Roadhouse Garden followed a bit later.

I'm looking forward to hearing all of CD 3.
Well, they listed 5 tracks and there is also as 6th "Love & Sex" that AFAIK isn't circulating in any version.
So "Velvet Kitty Cat" is exactly the same recently leaked?!?!?
It says Katrinas Paper Dolls has only previously circulated as a demo. I've never heard that before. |

No, neither have I (apart from an inaccurately labelled, unrelated track). Some here appear to have heard it though, so I guess they're referring to a demo circulating among elite collectors. Or I've missed something. |

I liked very much this version of EI. But somehow it sounds like he recorded an harmony line instead of the main melody line.
Like this: he did harmony over the original melody and then took out the main melody and we are hearing him singing the second voice.
Maybe i am tripping. |

Can SiFi provide any inside info on what happened to the 2nd live concert dvd? Was that ever really planned or was that just a rumor? And if it was planned, what happened to it?

So, is there an outlet yet which US fans can pre-order physical copies of whichever set they chose (Deluxe or Deluxe/Expanded)? So far, I've only seen through EB AUS. Not digital copies mind you. Physical ones... |

Physical copies are on Amazon now, but you can't pre-order it yet. Probably by the end of the day.
Personally I'm surprised that there isn't any package with the movie in it. [Edited 4/28/17 9:01am] "Like the drummer said, you got to die." |

no matter where the leaks came from, i think it's pretty shitty when people, either traders with inside info on an upcoming release or even people working on the release at warners or whomever, leak tracks like these when they know that they will be on the next release.
it's one thing (a glorious, wonderful thing) to get something like "come elektra tuesday" or "adonis and bathsheba" when a possible release is nowhere in sight on the horizon. but for someone to leak a track from this project, after holding on to it for a decade or more while dropping hints here and there, is kind of spoiling the fun for everyone who is waiting for the official release.
these people have to know we have no fucking self control
i've been half expecting someone to leak Katrina any day now. i mean, what's the point at this stage? just wait until the whole package is out and then leak some of the alternate versions. but hey, that would be too logical. nothing in prince land is logical, on either side of the fence, either official or bootleg.

first they said bernie grundman did the remaster, now it's just 'paisley park remaster' done by prince himself? why is everything about this release so vague?
unless they explain a lot of this shit in the linernotes to the physical release i'll just go on my gut feeling and see this as a release that they put together with bits and bobs they had in their own vault since forever. (i.e. disc 2)
too many things don't add up for it to be put together by prince. even if you only look at the explicit 'new' songs included. no way.
that's not a problem for me either, but just be honest about what it is and who did what.

Amazing. Goosebumps.
This WB release is a gift and homage to Prince fans and everyone should stfu. So much more to discover in the vault and we always have something to look forward to.
This track is on the Hot Tracks of ITunes. It takes some serious spins to be there. Right next to the great Frank Ocean. [Edited 4/28/17 9:19am] (Insert something clever here) |

Deliverance and Montreux 2013 DVD remain the best releases since his passing by a long shot. The dude left a vault of thousands of treasures and the best they can do in over a year is one dvd of vault material? The Syracuse dvd and the singles/12 inch cd are truly disappointments. In the words of Billy Sparks "what a f&cking waste."
They delayed the release to give us this crap? I thought Susan Rodgers said they were taking their time to make it extra special. If this is the best they can do then folks need to just put the good stuff out there for free like they did with Montreux and Deiverance. Someone release Second Coming please. These companies, trustees and estate cant get their acts together.
Electric Intercouse sounds like an early version. It is interesting to hear because it shows how the song evolved. But, it almost ruins the live version for me. This studio version makes it an even bigger travesty that the August 1983 live DVD is not part of the box set. Non-Diehard fans won't know the brilliance of that song.
The absense of songs like G-Spot, Wednesday, etc. is also disappointing. Maybe they will release the August 1983 DVD, alternative cuts of the movie, outtakes from the movie, etc. with the re-release of the movie DVD. WB is good for breadcrumbing Prince fans. I feel like they lost a window of opportunity here. |

Think about this. So many Purple Rain Era live recordings and the one chance they get to release a DVD it is a recording that was already released over 30 years ago. Granted, it will be in better quality, but this is the best they can do as the first live DVD release over a year after his death? 'The two-CD Purple Rain Deluxe set includes the official 2015 Paisley Park Remaster of the original tapes from the soundtrack, presenting an unheard vision of the album overseen by Prince himself.' This is interesting. Anyone else think we may get a vastly different version of the album? Jehovah's Witness Prince might have made some big changes to Darling Nikki for example.
.
It's labelled as "2015 PP Remaster", not "Remix" or "New Version" – so unless they are totally bonkers and don't know what they're talking about, this was remastered from the stereo master, not remixed from the multitracks, therefore it cannot contain any new recordings nor edits performed only on the vocal track.
