All I hear anymore is Jill Jones said this, JJ said that and anything anybody else says has to be false because JJ said so.

Why don't you go on Jill's social media accounts and ask her? I am sure she will tell you where to go and how to get there. She has spoken more on their time together and has never claimed Prince was still her man like some other people. She actually has been married twice and has a child unlike some other people. She also owns an actual business therefore she is employed.
She does not need to hang on to Prince to make a living.

I guess if I was that interested in JJ and hung on her every word, I might be interested in following her on social media, but I'm not. . So we can all believe every word this woman says, because she is the Prince expert? This is the same woman who held onto Prince even though he had 3 other side pieces? And because she's been married twice and has a child and is employed...that makes all the difference?

It makes a difference compared to your favorite person who you hang on to.
Oh and Mayte was a side piece when she was dating Prince because he was seeing Nona and Carmen at the same time.

Thanks Penny for leading the book club. I imagine it is a rather thankless task . I for one enjoyed the book and that it seemed to have some psychological perspective. That said, I agree that it was an oversight that they didn't update some of the relationship details. I sure would hate to be an author of a book being discussed on the org. Has there ever been a book club here where it didn't eventually get slammed?

I wonder whether Prince revealed his feminine side in high school .Were the guys he hung out with concerned with this or was it just accepted as part of Prince ,,,It is hard to be different in high school ..was he bullied or was he accepted as a genius

You are welcome everybody! Thank you all for participating. . At this point I feel that there is no reason to summarize the last few chapters, we basically know what happened and who with. . Feel free to comment on the last few chapters and also on the prologues. Then after we are thru with that, in a few days, we can ask the authors questions and hopefully they will answer them. . Thank you again!

No words for that one. I think Jill is cool and stable, she is not hanging on to relationship past so I would not even think she would stalk anyone. She has a real life in the present not in the past.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Ok...I'll take your word for her "being cool". I used to like her when she was a cute bubblegum blonde back in the day. It's only been recently that I noticed the harpyishnessnessness.
Mebbe she'll settle down after her album makes a few $$$s.

She has her own business. I doubt she is pressed about her album.

Phew...that's a relief...cuz after 30 years I have a feeling it's not gonna happen for her.

I did not get the impression from interviews that she did that she is serious about restarting her singing carreer. Jill did actually leave music and go to college. She owns a business that allows musicians to record together via an internet platform.

I can't vouch for any of these things being true or not, but here are a few interesting tid bits that wasn't bought up that I wanted to touch on, although I take them all with a grain of salt.. (believe at your own risk)
* After Vanity's departure, Prince heard about a night club she'd be partying at and deliberately took Appolonia there to make Vanity jealous. (If true, it seems he wanted to hurt her back after she left him.. ) * A knowledagable source stated, "Appllonia and Prince did have a brief fling, but he didn't have a genuine flame for her. There was no doubt that part of his attraction to Apollonia was a desire to get Vanity’s groat." (Does anyone believe that Apples and Prince had a brief fling? And only to make Vanity jealous???? The rumors were leading in that direction back then. If true, I feel bad that Apples had to get involved in the tumultuous drama that was Prince and Vanity... ) * The book stated that Prince was engaged to Susannah Melvoin but he made little secret of his dalliance with other women. He continued to see countless other women like Sheila E, Jill Jones, and even Troy Beyer was in the mix at that time. (I always thought that he started seeing Troy Bayer later after Susannah. Wasn't she around with Nona Gaye presenting Prince an award in the early 90's? Also the "Sexy MF" video she was in was from 1992. If its true that he made little secret of his dalliance, It's telling that he still didn't even try to hide his affairs even after getting engaged. * The book stated, "Cohabitation did not agree with Prince, and after just a few months of living together, he told Susannah he wanted her out. He convinced her to rent an apartment a short drive away." "He wanted her in his life, but he couldn’t go to sleep and wake up with the same person every day,” Rogers recalled. It states that SM best friend Karen Kittinger who was the general manager of Prince's production company was upset at his treatment of Susannah and complained that Prince put her in the middle of his relationship with SM way too much. He ordered her to perform odious tasks like installing Susannah Melvoin in an apartment after Prince banished her from his new home. (Those comments were surprising, coming from Susan Rogers and Karen Kittinger, Although Prince had bought Susannah an engagement ring, he didn't seem like he was serious about settling down at all. I thought they'd live together for longer than a few short months. If true, how he went about moving her out was brutal. I can't believe she still stayed with him a bit longer after that.) * The book stated, "A tense and unpleasant dynamic developed between Susannah and Sheila, who encountered each other not infrequently as a result of their intersecting musical and personal relationship." (Prince pretty much did the same thing with SM and Sheila E that happened between Vanity and Susan Moonsie. He still made his girls work together. Did the man not learn a thing after Vanity left him?) * Prince would later give band members a bonus said to have been in the range of one million dollar each, as a thank you for Purple Rain. I think everyone always forgets this. Prince gave all his Bandmate's one million dollars. I'm proud of him for doing that. (I hope it's true) I wonder if Appllonia got that as well? Ughhh😠! Gotta luv him tho!😋

Ya know, there are many points made here, but P never forced anyone to do anything...Anyone could leave at any time, all it took was self esteem.
The ones who did leave, left. End of story. He didn't blackball them or anything.
Those who stayed, even after they say they felt abused in some way, be it financially, emotionally, creatively...they stayed...he didn't force them.
I don't get what the big deal is...they obviously wanted to be encased in purple glittery lace.

As sad as that one fact continues to make me, maybe that's the way things were supposed to happen.
Even as the stories came out since 4/21 that this one or that one thought P "didn't look well" or that "something wasn't right", no one appeared to be proactive about that, so maybe this all happened exactly the way it was supposed to...and maybe, just maybe a lesson was learned.
Maybe the folks who thought something was off will wake up every single day for the rest of thier lives and appreciate having known P and regret not pushing the issue to be there in some small way at what turned out to be...4/21.
Maybe...
And the crazy thing is, I don't even think P held any malice towards any of them that they weren't there...which makes me even sadder.

Ughhh😠! Gotta luv him tho!😋 I agree with you. I think he (perhaps unconsciously at times) thrived from the contention. It seems he deliberately placed himself in the same situation every time. The simple fact that he wasn't even discreet most of the time was telling.. I think too that he just didn't like being told he couldn't do what he wanted to do. He wanted the ultimate control on his life.

No one who is genuinely peaceful and settled in themselves could/would produce such chaos for the majority of their lives. From the stories coming from his recent associates, he was still tying knots outside himself instead of untying the knots he had on the inside. Especially with young women. There is no way he wasn't aware of his behavior and did it subconsciously. IMHO If it's magic, then why can't it be everlasting.....

I do not think there was anything unconsious about what he was doing. He told many of these women he was going to see other women from the very beginning. He was a man who liked being the center of attention of a lot of women.
He was not the first man on the earth to do stuff and he will not be the last. He also got a lot songs out of it.

I agree that he wanted to be alone in the end, but it also implies that he knew what he intended to do that evening, but that's another subject. I also recall him stating that one of his biggest fears was dying alone? so who knows, but there was an interview with Kirk where he stated on the evening of the 20th that he was supposed to pick someone up at the airport and asked Prince if he wanted him to stay with him and have them take a cab and Prince told him no, so he left to pick them up? Maybe you've seen or heard of this but I specifically remembered it because I thought it was odd he wanted to be alone when he wasn't feeling well? But anyway, I just wished he would've let his guard down and allowed someone to take care of him when he most needed it. And yes, he was a modern day Prince!😎

That's a speculation, IMO, because I doubt he knew there was enough fentanyl in whatever he was taking to take out an elephant. I truly believe it was an accident but I'm also wondering why he would trust "street" drugs considering the reports of deaths (in Minnie) due to street fentanyl just a few months before. He must have been aware. On being alone - loners are not lonely. And some people, especially when feeling sick, don't want other people around. God is my Sugar Daddy.
