I Wish U Heaven/Scarlet Pussy (Lovesexy/Black Album) I don't think I ever noticed this before... (Mostly because I either played the the CD or digital files), but the label on the 12" for Scarlet Pussy is black with peach text, as the Black Album is. Also there's no mention of the b side track on the outer sleeve! I wonder if the idea was part of the whole Lovesexy vs The Black Album concept? Was Scarlet Pussy supposed to be a Black Album track, like an "evil b side" put there by Camille? He obviously played the concept out in the live shows too.

The black and peach stuff, to me, referred to the Camille era more specifically. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

The Black Album had a peach on black label. The label for the Camille album had the paisley pattern. The wooh is on the one!

I thought Scarlett Pussy was to be a part of Sheila E's 4th album?
It doesn't sound like a Lovesexy relation.

I think that's my point. Did Prince see Scarlet Pussy as a "Black Album" track/single... Is that what the Black and Peach record label is meaning?
I've always thought of The Black Album as an elaborate PR stunt / partner album to Lovesexy. It's like he planned to have a "Good" and "Evil" album released together... and it's obviously how he did the Live shows. (Despite supposedly pulling the Black album for moral reasons, he still played those songs live) [Edited 4/26/17 2:47am]

it wasn't made until 1988 so I don't think it was intended for the Camille or Black album, but most likely the (Erotic City / A Love Bizarre) for Sheila's 4th album

To get this thread back on a more positive note - this was always one of my favourite 12" extended versions. Scarlet Pussy has a similar feel to La La La Hee He He, with the whole pussycats and puppy vibe!
The tensions between Prince and Warners during his 80s years certainly made for massive fan interest and also increased his cult following. I remember shopping around for bootlegs like the 'Royal Jewels' at the time on vinyl.
It also felt as if the official releases were just the tip of the iceberg, with nine tenths concealed under the water / in the vault.
Getting back to I Wish U Heaven, the way the three parts develop is really unexpected, during this period Prince was introducing his darker and/or more sexual side first (think Lovesexy live tour, opening half then finale, plus Black album followed by Lovesexy) - which would inevitably be superceded by his more positive/religious message...'love is more important than sex, now I understand' (and yes I know I'm quoting from Temptation c.1985 ;o)
On I Wish U Heaven parts 1/2/3, it ends on the darkest section! Which is brilliant, and also very funny. Bob George also has humour in it, but it's easier to read that during the live show...the recording is a bit more full on!
Either way this was fascinating music, of the kind no-one else could make...and then came Batman and Graffiti Bridge.

Is that really the artwork for the Camille album? OldFriends4Sale said:

IDK, I thought the writing of Camille was very similar on both pieces

The side A label looks like the "V of her love" muff picture. The side B label looks like somebody's ass. Prince and his dirty mind...
