I do. Check out any photo from the D&P era. Especially the ones with the matador trousers...
I mean... you don't even need to see it to know that it is fine:

Are you suggesting that the pants he has on in this photo are matador trousers? Because they aren't.
Just sayin'.

Actually they are, see the D&P video (https://vimeo.com/126673999), that's where the still is from, but what if they weren't? Why are people so quick to correct/judge/throw shade in this place?

I've seen the video - Prince was not wearing matador pants. Matador pants are high-waisted (as these are), but they are also form-fitting and only fall to the mid calf. Google "matador" and you'll see a million pictures of how they're dressed. Those are matador pants.
I have almost 50 years of sewing/fashion/apparel experience. Accuracy is important - and I know what I'm talking about. There was no "shade" or "judgment" in my post.
Why do people get so butthurt when they're the ones who are wrong?

Genesia, of course he was not wearing real matador pants, I know very well what those are like, I have bullfighters in my family so I have seen quite a few, don't need to google them, thanks. Many times it has been stated here on the org that Prince's pants on the D&P era were matador pants, or, if you prefer, matador like pants, because they were high waisted and snug fitted.
Lighten up.

Why the arrogant stance over a pair of fucking trousers? Just because people who don't work in sewing/fashion refered to them as "matador pants" simply because they are... well... matador like pants!
Now excuse me while I go jump off a cliff because I misnamed a style of pants...

Does anyone think he would have been able to catalogue all of this stuff himself, record music and tour?
. This is utterly childish. He could have easily employed people. Instead clothing etc was stuffed into garages etc. Look at all the effort the Graceland folks are putting into preserving the outfits vs Prince's utter lack of effort. And we now have several tales of the same happening to audio and video tapes, which is very worrying. Why don't you go and put your head a bit further in the ground and stay there because your effort is a waste of space. |

What interests me is that for a guy who often claimed that he didn't look back and was focused only on the present and future, he sure held on to tons of stuff from the past.
Well, he retained all of those old crafts with a mind to potentially present them in some future application. His present certainly was harnessed to his past--that's just the way of world for us all. Every reinvention comes from a desire to move forward and artifacts will be left in the wake. Sometimes you have to roll your eyes at things that Prince would say, but I believe that that utterance meant he wished not to remain planted in the past and to continue to grow outward from his nourishing roots. |

According to this book he had a giant garage sale once. I would say hoarder no, pack rat yes. I asked Prince what he was planning to do. He told me , I'm going to look for the ladder. I asked him what that meant. All he said was, sometimes it snows in April. - book D.M.S.R. |

Yup. Ive seen that on a lot of his pants. They're like those stirrup leggings that used to be popular a couple decades back; you put them on and your foot holds the leg of the pants/leggings down so they don't go flying up when you moved.
Also, Tiny Ass Doll Clothes. Pretty cute. I imagine myself inside your bedroom; oh, I imagine myself in your sky.

Thanks Spooky. That's a good idea. Guess the elastic would have to be attached a ways up inside so the pants could fall down over the boots. Kept him sharp! Brand new boogie without the hero. |

If I remember stirrup pants correctly (and am of course dating myself! ) yeah, those straps went kind of far. I think the strap was ankle high on either side and well anchored. I think ballet tights have the same thing, but I'm not sure. I imagine myself inside your bedroom; oh, I imagine myself in your sky.

If he's anything like me... he moved a lot in childhood and that meant less stability and sense of ownership... so as an adult you tend to start cataloguing your life so to speak...to preserve what you owned at a certain point in your life because your younger years were so transient... some of it is indeed hoarding (I have 2 years worth of magazines on my dining room table but that's because I paid for thone subscriptions and want to read them all before I give them away) but I have clothes from college... clothes from high school days.. clothclothes from years ago.. I don't wear them.. they just represent a specific time in my life and it is hard to give them away.. (they're packed in bags to donate to salvation army but....).... so prince could have saved his stuff to be put in a museum as he left detailed plans for such but also these items of clothing represented his evolution as a person... they hold a key to the past... I have every ticket for every concert I have ever attended.. in a box... now my stuff is very neat and set away from my every day stuff (cept that table of mags lol) so most people are not aware of what I own.... at my parents house I have all of my diaries... that I always planned to use as source material for a book... Sometimes people just plan out their lives in a particular way...he kept the things that had significance to him... and let the things that didn't (other people.. old friends with dubious allegiance.. women ) go. |

Could be wrong but Prince probably didn't want anyone else to wear the clothing or sell it. Maybe just kept it for lack of a plan. They were all custom made and highly visible as being his.

This made me laff cuz in a recent interveiw for her book Mayte mentions the "furry Ugg boots" and that P never wore flats and that even with those boots he would "stand on tiptoe" cuz being in heels gives you a different body posture.
But I had peeped those lucite wedges in performance in those boots when he sat on the piano and was dangling his legs, so I what like, Huh? What is she talking about? They had heels inside the boot bottoms!
Anyway, that made me laff cuz I figured other fans would've noticed cuz we notice erreythang about P.
And as for dat azz...Sooo plump and round like a ripe plum.
