Whoa!! Fascinating! . Does not surprise me that Prince would have such a collection, which reflects his personality and extraordinary career and life!

. Nice picture! . Those booties might have heels/wedges underneath. I don't think he ever wore flat shoes.

Inside Prince’s Paisley Park Archives: 7,000 Artifacts Cataloged, Many More to Go . By MICHAELANGELO MATOS, APRIL 20, 2017, New York Times . So far, Paisley’s archival team has cataloged more than 7,000 items — a number Ms. Marchese considers “less than 5 percent” of the building’s holdings. One key difference between Graceland and Paisley Park, she said, is that where Vernon Presley, Elvis’s Depression-weathered father, kept tight to every receipt, most of the Paisley paper trail has been creative: “We’ve got the sketches for the wardrobe, handwritten notes, lyrics on backs of envelopes or notepads, things like that.” .

This made me laff cuz in a recent interveiw for her book Mayte mentions the "furry Ugg boots" and that P never wore flats and that even with those boots he would "stand on tiptoe" cuz being in heels gives you a different body posture.
But I had peeped those lucite wedges in performance in those boots when he sat on the piano and was dangling his legs, so I what like, Huh? What is she talking about? They had heels inside the boot bottoms!
Anyway, that made me laff cuz I figured other fans would've noticed cuz we notice erreythang about P.
And as for dat azz...Sooo plump and round like a ripe plum.

Andy Warhol was a hoarder. He also thought absolutely everything might be important, but the hoarding was a pretty basic trait, and the other was probably just a justification for the behavior.

I was trying to ignore this whole sub-conversation--but that was funny.

. I dunno if I would classify Prince has a hoarder. He didn't just randomly collect things; he held on to things that had sentimental value to him. I don't think that article should used "hoarder", imo

I don't know about Prince--I suspect people would be responding differently if he wasn't "Prince," and I doubt it was "because of the museum." My guess is he just kept stuff--to a degree that if he hadn't been incredibly wealthy and in a position to do pretty much whatever he wanted then people would be judgmental about it. At some point, well after he'd been keeping stuff for quite a while, he realized that a museum might be something to do, and he started maybe modifying or directing his behavior with that in mind. But all those items didn't have sentimental value to him--not unless you define "sentimental" in a special way for Prince. Now, if that means I'm saying he's a hoarder, fine. I'm not saying anything I think is bad. If someone thinks there's something wrong with the behavior or my description of it (as in you think it doesn't apply to Prince), okay. But hoarders generally think they're keeping stuff for a good reason--it's the view from outside and whether others value what they've amassed that makes them hoarders. As a fan, I put value on all sorts of Prince-related stuff that might not be important to others. So, whatever motivated him, good. [Edited 4/25/17 17:23pm]

. True. A lot of it is just "stuff" and really holds no monetary value. He was probably so busy all the time and when he came off of touring, things would just pile up until he had a whole room filled with stuff and no real way to manage anything. . I know he spoke of opening PP as a museum. Now, imagine having the task of sifting through all that stuff.

I agree, I think it's important not to trivialize hoarding because it is actually a mental health/behavioral issue. Maybe "pack rat" would be a better description. Since he wanted Paisley Park to become a museum, keeping all of the memorabilia makes a great deal of sense. He obviously has a significant legacy and he clearly was aware of his legacy. . I definitely question the amount of clothes and shoes he had. I know he was a performer and all, but did he really need that many clothes and shoes? Is it true that he never wore the same outfit twice? I mean there are some people who don't even have enough clothes. Live 4 Love ~ Love is God, God is love, Girls and boys love God above

. Yes, hoarding is a serious mental health issue, as you stated. . I think most people have a tendancy to let things pile up. I'm guilty of that myself. I let papers pile up and laundry to pile up, LOL. . I agree. I don't know why he did not donate some of his clothing. Was he planning to have it displayed in the museum?

Could be wrong but Prince probably didn't want anyone else to wear the clothing or sell it. Maybe just kept it for lack of a plan. They were all custom made and highly visible as being his. Brand new boogie without the hero.

Yes he seemed sentimental at times then other times when he was hurt he would burn and destroy everything I asked Prince what he was planning to do. He told me , I'm going to look for the ladder. I asked him what that meant. All he said was, sometimes it snows in April. - book D.M.S.R.
