Video: "Damaris Lewis: Prince's 'Black Muse'" Here is a link to the video: https://youtu.be/QCyAaVU2NSY . I really enjoyed watching this video. Damaris shares some tidbits about Prince, including that he wrote the song "Black Muse" for her. (I kind of suspected that he wrote it for her because when he released the song as a Purple Pick of the Week on Tidal, this was the picture accompanying the song): . Yeah I saw this the other day. I really like her spirit. And I like the way she talks abut his legacy beyond music and what he wanted for the world. Change it one more time..

Much respect for her. I especially like the part where she talks about the people who loved him sharing that love outside of themselves or something like that. All the people hating past associates for "cashing in" should look at it from her perspective. She seems to feel that's how to continue his legacy and I have to agree. Perhaps I need to watch it again then but that's the feeling I got when she said anyone who loved him has an obligation to keep his legacy moving, etc. I'm not sure how much clearer her message could be. Agree, especially when she mentions about researching knowing who this man is was and going to be as his legacy.

I get that part of her message, but what does that have to do with "cashing in"? Now, band members touring and releasing albums is another thing, altogether. That can be a wonderful way to keep his legacy going, as long as that's not exploitative.
She's certainly not talking about authoring tell-all books to keep his legacy alive, though. And, that's not to say that all books about Prince would be "tell-all." I just think there is a fine line to be walked between revealing private details about his life that he would not want to be released, as opposed to telling stories about the making of Prince, from his youth and down through the years. For instance, I'd love to see books from Andre or Morris Day about their high school and the Grand Central days. I also think Kim Berry's book will be loving and talk about caring for Prince's hair for almost 30 years. I doubt that she would reveal anything that would betray his trust in her.

Thanks for posting this. She's been such a positive influence in continuing his message and speaking about her time working with him. I've seen some of her posts about working with young people and she's got a good head on her shoulders. God is my Sugar Daddy.

I can see why she was his muse.....smart, beautiful, sexy...I had the pleasure of watching her dance at mohegan sun back in 2013 at the 3 shows Prince did there. "You always get the dream that you deserve, from what you value the most" -Prince 2013
