Is this new?? I haven't read every biography or interview but I haven't heard this before.

I read something recently that quoted him early in his career as saying that he didn't want to become involved in drugs because he thought he would like them too much. Unfortunately, I can't remember where I read it and I don't remember seeing that quote in other places. So,my reaction was sort of...yeah, lots of people say stuff like that so nothing here...

The "27" statement seems different...makes one wonder what was going on in his head...was he actually referring to drugs or was he afraid of burning out young?

over the years he seemed obsessed with getting alot of music out there as quickly as possible..some critics have labeled this as being self indulgent. But, simply as a listener, that is not what I hear in his music.

So, I dunno...

I guess this just adds to the mystery...
