Record Store Day 2017 Errors or Misprints

I just snagged copies of the 12" releases from Record Store Day and noticed differences in 4 of the 6 titles, when compared to the original packaging. I'm not opening the re-issues so I don't know if there are other differences. "I Wish U Heaven" and "Partyman" have 2 changes, which I would consider significant. The spine on both re-issues retitles the songs! The "U" has been replaced with "You."

error-1.jpg

The re-issue is shown on the top, with the original on the bottom for both releases.

Also, on "Pop Life," the image on the back side has been flipped, so if you were to cut the sleeve open, it no longer shows one complete image of the old woman. Now the rest of her body does not connect with the front of the sleeve.

And the bar code on "Sign O' the Times" has been flipped.

More cockups with the Prince reissue 12" singles then, bearing in mind the If I Was Your Girlfriend 12 with the white stripe on the top of the front cover...shoddy as hell.

I also hear the picture disc of Little Red Corvette plays Hey Hannigan on the B side wink

Side note, there are no records stores near me that participate in 'Record Store Day' sad

Will these be available, like on Amazon, or some other way after today?

Thanks!

All of the Record Store Day 12inch Singles ARE NOT exclusives.

.

I've been warning people about this for a month now!

.

They are all "record store day firsts".

.

All of the 12inch reissues will be on Amazon and elsewhere.

.

I was going to wait for the 12inch singles to be on Amazon but my local record store was selling them for less than what they would retail for on Amazon, so I thought I may as well get them today.

.

I feel bad for some people who have paid silly money on eBay as these will retail for around ten pound each.

.

I bought a hand full of 7inch picture discs but sold them at cost to help people who don't live near record stores.

.

I only hope more people don't get ripped off as these have been printed in large quantities and even the previous reissues are all still available.

The standard way to distinguish the reissues is by the copy "made in the eu".

.

Most (if not all) of the 12inch reissues so far have followed the USA format, but state 'made in the eu', so it's an easy way to know.

Nope. It doesn't look this bad.
Not just the central image, but the pink gradient background, and the text on the back... All a bit blurred and crappy.

I got the "Little Red Corvette" Picture disc since that is really gonna be the only thing limited, all is else is going to be and has been everywhere already.

This all seems very odd indeed.

.

Once the Purple Rain era 12inch re-issues are done in June, it would be good to have a serious of reissues from the first four albums.

.

I suppose most people have everything, but it would be nice to have fresh copies of both Gotta Stop 12inches, Controversy and Let's Work.

.

In 2007 we only had one really old reissue, so it would be nice to finally have some others.

The record store day 12 inches doesn't say NPG records, at least not nowhere on the outside or spine. I also picked up the "What time is it" green vinyl, anybody see any where they were at?

Yep, I saw loads of the Time albums.

.

I didn't buy one as it's not at all interesting, yet it was quite cheap at 14 pound - oddly cheaper than the 7inch picture disc.

.

I'm happy with my original LP and CD.

.

I feel sorry for anyone paying too much for the 12inch singles are they will go into general release as they are only "record store day firsts".

That's how all U.S. Warner Bros. 12" singles have always been printed. Prince, Madonna, The B-52's, etc have all the commercial 12" single spines on the bottom as far back as I can remember.

Even the photo in the original post comparing the two Partyman 12" singles shows the spine in the original 1989 12" to be on the bottom too so it isn't a mistake.

Anyone else pick up the 7" picture disc of Little Red Corvette / 1999? If so, give it a listen.

Mine is awful - the A side has terrible surface noise, unlistenable really. The B side skips very badly for the first few bars and then sounds fine. I have 30 year old picture discs that sound better than this, I reckon I'll bring mine back.

I think you and I are the only two left that get that joke (or at least find it funny!).

Were you around in AMP when it started?

I'd avoid the likes of Rough Trade as they put a massive mark up on RSD items.

I wasn't, but I ended up being a voyeur in the group a good few years later.

Glad you appreciate the Hey Hannigan reference smile

They sure do. They mark up a fair bit in general anyway.

For those based in London, ring the Flashback shops (there are three of them). I got the green vinyl What Time Is It from their Angel store for £16.99 - Rough Trade, Sister Ray and Phonica didn't have any copies.

In what part of the U.S. do you live where new albums are only $14.99?
