I prefer Come...though the song Gold has grown on me over the last few years

Come feels a bit more gritty and heartfelt, less over the top

Not even near being the best of the 90's imo.

Shhh, TMBGITW, Dolphin, Shy, I Hate U and Gold are the only listenable tracks to my ears. The NPG operator shite and things like P.Control, Endorphine, We march and Now are awful.

I agree, Gold Experience is the finest P album in the 90s.

Original version of EM was an absolute rock monster. I have no idea why he overdubbed the hell out of it for TGE.

P Control was cool at the time.

Mid 90s = Great era for Prince. The Gold Album was wonderful but the versions of those songs that were circulating a year or two before release were even better. He did polish it up a bit too much.

Agreed. Same for C&D a year later.

I did enjoy the dubbed up TMBGITW from TGE more than the original version from 94 tho...

Yes it is, but even better in the configuration with "Days Of Wild" and the original superior studio take of TMBGITW.

I also agree with who's sayin' "Gold" and "Come" are like a double album.

To some extent I find them the pair "Black Album"+"Lovesexy" of the 90's.

I too also prefer Come. It's not over produced in the way TGE is. Plus the Come album frankly has aged far better than TGE.

This. These were the days for me. Albums, Maxi singles, tv specials, awesome out-takes, tour and aftershow boots. The Dawn covers it all perfectly

Yes, it is interested to listen once to some edited versions of songs and to a different tracklist to what we already have, but to me it isn't more of a novelty.

Anyway, each to their own.

I disagree with you about Endorphinmachine, but am in absolute accord on We March, Now, and this album as a whole.

i prefer the 'love symbol' album over anything from the decade...then 'come'. then 'exodus' and 'the gold experience' and 'goldnigga' maybe tied for 3rd.

it took me a long time to warm to 'the gold experience' and it's probably my least listened to album to this day; but it's okay...

I know it's fan made but I think it's a great compilation (I know databank loves it too!) from that era including out-takes, remixes and sparser earlier versions (and better IMO) of the likes of Gold and EndorphinMachine

I listened to it once, appreciating the work.

Anyway, when I want to listen to (for example) "Space" I prefer to go to one of the released version instead of a mash-up of them, and this applies to many tracks on the set: yes, very well made but still mash-up.

As you I also prefer the original "Come" version of "Endorphinemachine" vs. the TGE version.

For "Gold", instead, differently from many other fans, I never had any problem with the TGE released version: I love it so much that any other outtake of it seems empty to my ears.

loved the whole era... the radical change in musical style, the name change, man those were the days.

There's not a bad note on that album and I love how every song builds on the previous one. Definitely a concept album done right. Even the segues don't bother me... After playing the video-game the whole VR concept worked for me.

Come - Gold - emancipation is the trilogy I always think of when it comes to 90's prince. and 90's prince was frkn awesome!

I agree. I love the Truth.

But I would definitely follow it with the Gold Experience. It is a little to strong on Tommy B keyboards at times but still great songs.
