WB hate for Prince lives on.....

This is in regards to disc 3 of the PR remaster, assuming it is legit.

Think about this for a sec. Prince pissed off WB royally when he was alive, right up to the very end. There are thousands of songs to choose from that could have been on that third CD. What are the chances that the only two unreleased songs (that I am aware of) with swears in the title, Wonderful Ass and We Can Fuck, wind up on this very small track list? Being the first thing most non hardcore fans will hear from the vault.

These were picked by WB with intent, they knew Prince's stance on swearing, and they are directly flipping him the bird by having these on there.

Don't get me wrong, I am glad they are on there, I will love to finally have pristine versions of both of these, I just find it amusing and petty that WB's animosity still lives on even after he is gone.

Is this observation off base?

I think you're talking out of your arse and superimposing your personal agenda onto a tracklist of long anticipated (and quite probably 2 of the best) unreleased tracks.

No agenda, not sure what the agenda could be even if I had one. Yes, those are the two best tracks, I agree.

I've never believed myths of label hatred against Prince.

.

I've worked for many labels and never heard of it nor seen it against any artist - however, I've seen loads of in-fighting which has had a negative knock-on effect to an artists career.

.

Being Prince was signed in 1977/78 most of the WB staff would have retired by now and many many more would have come and gone.

.

Again, for the labels I've worked for, people came and went as fast as passengers in Grand Central Station!

.

Also, when staff change masses of knowledge gets lost! Hence why there are always problems with re-issues as people can't find the artwork or something is labeled incorrectly or simply the staff don't have the knowledge.

.

During the short lives of Rave and New Power Soul the staff at BMG (one office dealt with NPS, RCA and another office dealt with Rave, Arista), were very enthusiastic.

.

These two offices were only over the corridor from each other and everyone was really enthusiastic to be working with Prince. The staff wanted to do so much more but naturally as we know, Prince moves on quickly. There were conversation to have Wasted Kisses released as a European single following Come On, but Prince had moved on.

.

If WB had issues with Prince then surely they would have refused to release anything!

I don't have to pretend anything, I never liked the editing of lyrics Prince did over the years, but I respected his reasons for doing so.

You missed the point of the observation though, it has nothing to do with me personally. I am very much looking forward to We Can Fuck and Wonderful Ass in all its purple goodness.

I wouldn't say WB hates Prince but they are knowingly disrespecting his wishes when it came to cursing in his music. Or maybe while he was alive he indicated he was ok with these releases.

Im not sure why your post stirred up animosity. It was clear yet apparently misread to imply that you are personally offended by the words. I don't know the answer, but it is a legitimate quesion.

I don't know either, such hostility and negativity. Personally I never have, nor would I ever, treat fellow fans the way some folks treat each other here, and I have been here since 2002.

Yes when I said clean in my original post, it meant 'clean sounding' versions. I have changed it to 'clear' to avoid confusion. I thought it was obvious as well.

Warner Brothers only job is to make money. Why would they waste resources to figuratively hate-fuck a dead man in a way so subtle that only a few Prince.org "geniuses" would notice? The idiocy is breathtaking.

It was your phrase: The WB Prince-hate.

As if a multi-million dollar company is going to sit around dreaming up ways to bludgeon Prince, when they've got more than enough singers, rappers, and movie-makers to keep their coffers quite full. What would be the point of hating on Prince especially when he re-signed with them a couple years before he died?

I think people here forget that while many folks on the Org are obsessed with Prince and his doings, the world at large is not obsessed, and many, many people simply don't care that much, including record companies, whose major function is, as stated here earlier, to make money. Not to get into ridiculous wars with people over nonsense, but to get the money.

Using a version of a song where Prince cursed rather than the one where he didn't isn't an indication of anything except that the company preferred the one with cursing to the one that didn't. Would Prince have liked it published? Probably not. But he isn't here to dispute that, and he's the idiot who didn't leave a will to tell people how he would have liked his stuff taken care of in the event of his death. Blame Prince for this, not WB. They're not required to adhere to a certain kind of behavior regarding music they have obtained of his with their money.

I imagine myself inside your bedroom; oh, I imagine myself in your sky.

Agreed. The post is garbage. Remember, Prince checked off on this in 2014. The truth is always more interesting than some 2nd rate conjecture.
