Harry Connick Jr performs Prince's "Kiss"

Saw this on his tv talk show today, April 21. He did an awesome job performing Kiss.

Couple of notes:

The bass really kept the original groove of the guitar sample. It was subtle and kept it familiar.

The horn arrangement sounds like something Prince would do now with his 12-piece. It was different from other arrangements Prince has used on the song in the past.

I love Harry, but he seemed a bit lax in his singing at moments that could have used a bit more enthusiasm. I also think the common guitar hook we all know should have been used at some point.

I enjoyed the overall arrangement.

Harry threw down some who dat funky love for Prince and made it fresh. Dubose solo at the end was very tasty. Definitely did not suck. Nice surprise this morning. We all watch our hometown boy down here.
